I have only been to FLL once, stayed at the Sleep Inn / Dania. Completely fine, but this time I want to try something on the beach or 17th St. My question - I know nothing about the water taxi. Can you or anyone else give me a little info? Although I won't really need to go anywhere, is it something we can just hop on and see the sights from? Will it take us to the port the next day? I assume it is a taxi that carries a number of people, not just one 1 or 2? Clueless and Curious!
Bequia Posted July 27, 2007 Author #27 Share Posted July 27, 2007 boatlover, here's the link to the water taxi website where you can learn all about it. Hopping on for the ride without geting off is a perfect way to see the sights from th water in Ft Lauderdale. Most water taxi captains are very entertaining, gossipy and knowledgeable of the waters and its shores, it's a blast. Your ticket allows you to get on and off all day. I encourage you to get off at Las Olas and explore the many fine shops and restaurants. Unfortunately they do not go to the cruise ships. That section of the port is very secure, access is restricted. http://www.watertaxi.com/FortLauderdale/FLLHome.Asp

It makes perfect sense that security would not allow the water taxi to stop at the port. I look forward to checking out the taxi.
Rare Kteacher Posted July 28, 2007 #29 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Thanks so much Bequia! Because of a flight delay we didn't get to spend too much time in Ft. Lauderdale in April. I'm going back again next July, and we're staying one night pre-cruise and one night post-cruise in Ft. lauderdale. Your info is much appreciated :)
