Explorer balcony question

Just booked a cruise a few minutes ago on the Explorer for June 2008. I was really only going to get an inside cabin, but was talked into deck 10 room 1388 (aft?). Is this a good thing? The agent said this was a great room/balcony. Will it be OK for me and my 3 kids (14-20)? Being on such a high deck I am a little concerned about sea sickness. Thoughts please.

some would say you hit the lotto. Aft balconys are loved by all. if you have cruised before, you will notice no difference in the motion of the boat and the great part is that the balconys are larger when you have an aft room!!!!

We were in a deck 9 aft last year. Never noticed a difference in motion, but you do notice some shuttering (mild vibration) from the engine. You have a great room. Enjoy it!!

Sounds like a JS, to me! If it is, you will be spoiled for anything else!

1388 is not a JS but a D1 almost the size of a JS.......You hit the jackpot alright!!:D

We were on deck 10 in April in the front of the ship. I could feel the movement, but it didn;t make any of us sick at all. I found it to be quite relaxing when going to sleep.

Which date in June are you sailing? We are sailing the Explorer again on June 5. We might be aft neighbors!

We were just in 1688, the other corner. The room is like the size of a JS and the balcony is huge. Part is covered. Do you know about the "stripper pole in the room". It is a great room enjoy.

Thank you for the photos. But is the view from the balcony rather limited? It appears to have kind of a small opening-is this because it's on a corner? Does it get any sun?

I believe you will have some sun on the corner aft. If you do a search on cruise critic for "aft cabins" you will find some threads about the cabins. Fellow cruise critic member "bonnievoyager" is the aft expert.
