Let's Design the ULTIMATE Carnival Ship

Recommended Posts

Since this seems to be the week of "fun" topics, what could be more fun than building our own ship.

What features would you love to see? What do you hate and would eliminate?

I'll start:

The ship should be around 120,000 tons, big enough to have lots of features but not so large that you become just another face in the crowd.

I would feature bigger balconies and full baths (meaning tub/shower instead of just showers) in all standard cabins (including balcony cabins) and mini-suites and suites would have whirlpool baths with seperate showers. I'd also have hot-tubs on the balconies of the full suites.

I'd eliminate the Destiny class design - too confusing and often has a "can't get there from here" feeling.

I would also cut down on the amount of bars on the ship, few of them are ever full.

Ok, now you guys add and suggest :D

Stealing this from another fun board i saw one time on here: I would design chairs that are chair-hog proof, lol!! Maybe after one hour empty, the chair lifts up and dumps the stuff onto the deck, where a robot would then collect it and put it in the newly designed "chair hogs" bin, where chair hogs would have to make themselves know to Carnival employees and then dig for their stuff!! hehehe:D :D :D

A pool with "regular" steps that just slowly go down into the water (such as NCL and Royal Caribbean). I hate those metal, straight up and down steps! Also, full service on the room service menu, it would be great to order a steak up to the room and about a dozen Warm Chocolate Melting Cakes!

And how about COLD SODA! All the soda on cruise ships is warm, the ice melts suddenly, and you're left with watered down lukewarm soda. My biggest complaint!!

'Elevators' that travel from bow to stern.

Having just returned from Europe and being in 5 airports in one day when we returned, how about one of those escalator type moving floor things like a lot of airports have? Sure would make it much easier to get from an aft cabin to the middle or front of the ship!:D :D Of course, you WOULD have to leap off of it...:p ;)

Free special coffees, juices, and alcoholic drinks (of course raise the price, and have the ability to cut people off and have their SS card show that).

Have refrigerator in all rooms. Have tv's that have something new every day so if they are restricted to room (illness) it isn't quite so bad.

Make some hot tubs adult only and enforce it.

Make some non smoking areas and enforce it.

Have lots of glass in the atrium.

Have a clothes line in the showers for swim suits.

Have laundry for us to use on every floor.

Eliminate ice machines if they are there. The steward can bring the ice and then the noise isn't bothering someone.

I'll quit now.

Non smoking rooms and balconys just as the hotels have. Adults Only areas strictly enforced. A bathtub in every cabin. An all you can eat seafood buffet, with shrimp, crab legs and lobster, like on the Caribbean Princess.... YUM   Free canapes from Room Service.

Bigger buffet areas - First more seating to accommodate more people (especially tables for two),and Secondly, more food choices (personally I'd love to see a 24 hour buffet too). And, while we're at it, let's add 24 hour "stations" in the buffet like pasta or other things that keep fairly well in a buffet setting.

I'd also like to see more alternative restaurants onboard.

I would also make an outdoor dining area...not by the pool like it is now, but, rather a dedicated outside (Al Fresco) area that had comfortable tables and chairs, perhaps even a canopy or umbrellas for shade.

I agree to the adult hot tub and pool where it is ENFORCED. And the occassional Adults Only cruise.

Lastly, a better theater design. In general, I like Carnival's theater concepts but, if you're upstairs, sometimes some of those supporting poles obstruct the view - and if it's a full house - you might not find one that is better.

I second the non smoking rooms. I avoid the indoor bars because if I am around smoke, it makes me physically sick (respiratory illness). I would love to enjoy all the fun but have to go outside where it seems to be a little less fun.

Spare rooms with balconies for the people that are sick so they can be in the sun (helps healing) and air out their cabins. That way they wouldn't try to sneak out to be in the fresh air. Their cabin mate would appreciate it also.

A bigger casino would be among the first things on my wish lists. More slots, more video poker and more table games.

I'd also make a seperate water park type area for the kids (think Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas) BUT, I'd also make an adult's area where you can be spoiled like on Crown Princess.

I'd like to see a frequent cruise program with better perks fleet-wide.

And how about some upscale activities like Wine Tasting, cooking demonstrations, and, Guest Lectures About the Ports (and not the CD telling us where to shop).

Finally, YES CARNIVAL HOW ABOUT LONGER CRUISES!! Many of us have more than a week to vacation and would love to see 10 and 11 night cruises, especially around the holidays!

Oooppss - that wasn't my final comment...this is...how about making sure clergy is onboard for holiday sailings. I've been let down twice on Christmas sailings without so much as a non-denomination service. That's why I don't book Carnival for the holidays anymore...

Us too. Very disappointed in that nothing was held during our Xmas sailing this past year. That's why we're back on Royal Caribbean THIS year.

I'd also add - less product pushing in the spa.

I would like the arrangement on RCCL about booking a cruise, on a cruise. 100 dollar deposit and you don't have to choose the cruise right then. You can use that for 2 years. That way you would always feel like something was out there in the future even if you don't have a date or ship.
