winediva Posted August 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2004 Anyone stayed here yet? I'm booked there on Aug 27 and looking for info on their restaurants besides the namesake Hard Rock Cafe. Of course, any feedback would be welcome....
suzziecruisie Posted August 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2004 Hey winediva, I was just in Hollywood this past July for a wedding. I grew up in Hollywood, FL. I was amazed at the new Hard Rock Resort and went over with friends one night to check it out, so I can't comment about staying there. I can tell you, it is gorgeous and the staff most pleasent since I went and talked to some of them about prices to stay overnight. As for food, I saw at least 3 places to eat: the namesake Hard Rock Cafe & store (of course), an upscale looking restaurant (sorry can't remember the name), and a whole food court, like one you would see in a mall. All three of them were surrounding the casino tables and main lobbey. I also know that if you have a car that you will be close enough to other restaurants off of property. I must also comment on the pool area, large pool with lots of chairs and a waterfall, BEAUTIFUL! There was also an outdoor poolside lounge and bar. There is also on site a full service spa with services like those on a Celebrity cruise. Children under 18 are not allowed anywhere near the casino. My girlfriend, who came just to eat with us, had her babysitter cancel last moment and had to bring her 8 month old. The would not allow her past a outline line on the carpet. One of the bouncers told us, they had to ask a guy at 4AM to please take his 2 year old out of the casino!!! YIKES! Casino is well ventalated, I could not smell one ounce of cigarette smoke anywhere, even though tons of people were smoking at the tables and slots machines. They had slots and definately a lot of poker tables. I would say this hotel holds up to a miniture upscale Vegas style hotel. There is valet parking and a very large parking lot. You are about 15-25 minutes from the airport and Ft. Lauderdale port. The night we went, we all had fun. No serious gamblers with us, so most of us just got a roll of quarters and played the slots till we ran out. Food at the Hard Rock Cafe, was good, same as others I have eaten in. I would definately consider staying at it next time I am down. Hope this helps some, Stacy

SkiCruiser44 Posted August 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2004 SuzieCruisie- I too grew up in Hollywood - just down the street from the Hard Rock in Emerald Hills. I graduated from Hollywood Hills High in '76. Thanks for the review of the Hard Rock - we may look at staying there next time we're in town. Lois R - No this hotel is inland about 8 miles - a couple of miles west of the airport (10 minutes). Kathy

suzziecruisie Posted August 16, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2004 Hey Lois R, Kathy is right. Hard Rock is not near the Galleria or Hollywood Beach. It is off the turnpike, near 595. Here are the location from the web site: Located on State Road 7 (U. S. Highway 441), just north of Stirling Road on the Seminole Indian Reservation in Hollywood, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is conveniently located: 10 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport 15 minutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale 15 minutes from the Atlantic Ocean beaches 30 minutes from the Miami International Airport 30 minutes from downtown Miami Hey Kathy, I graduated '89 South Broward High School and grew up in Hollywood Hills. If I don't stay with friends like this past time, I would stay at Hard Rock, you won't find a nicer hotel on Hollywood Beach that is for sure. My husband and I stayed at HoJo on the beach last time. We weren't expecting the ritz but boy has that place fell by the wasteside, no more beach side bar and there was mildew growing on the walls!!! winediva Posted August 18, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted August 18, 2004 Thanks so much for your detailed review of the Hard Rock! The pictures online looked amazing and it wasn't super expensive for a Fri night. They advertise over 15 restaurants, but didn't really explain the options. That gives me some direction and maybe I'll inquire if we need reservations for the fancy joint. As the whole thing seems pretty new, I'll be sure to report back when I return. Again, my thanks (and safe keeping!) to all the Floridians who chimed in.
NnJ2010 Posted August 18, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2004 how far from the port is it?
suzziecruisie Posted August 18, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2004 From the Hard Rock to the port, I would say about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Stacy
