If Hampton Inn is your choice, then go for the Hampton Inn in Plantation, the Hallandale location would require a car for what you want.

We stayed there one night in April pre-cruise. It was a good hotel - clean, comfortable bed, had the free breakfast and an on-site Steak and Shake. I think there was a mall and a Target nearby. It was a convenient place to stop and we had no complaints except that our room overlooked kind of a slummy neighborhood. We just kept the curtains closed. :)

 

I agree with Bequia. If I was looking to be near beaches or entertainment and planning to stay more than 1 night, I think I'd go somewhere else.
