Ocruise Posted August 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2004 Hi all. We usually save a lot of money by booking snorkel excursions at the island, not doing the ship excursions. We are sailing on the Golden Princess Sunday & will be in Antigua. Any recommendations for a good, reliable snorkel operator in Antigua? Thanks, Marina
erniesband Posted August 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2004 Eli's eco tour includes good snorkling plus a whole lot more. Check out the Eli thread to learn more. Highly recommended. :D
Dan Oreily Posted August 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2004 Hi The Island Seafari tour that I went on had very good snorkelling, we did one stop at Green Island which was very good. We went off the beach and ended up in 25 feet of water, at least i did, the rest of the gang hung out on the shallow reef in 10 feet of water. It was very personalised and the reef had a good variety of fish. We also stopped at cades reef on the south side for a swim to look at the starfish and conch beds, this was also nice, however it was more of a swim than a snorkel stop. All in all this trip did have very good snorkelling as well as visiting Bird Island, the north sound national Parkand Historic Nelson's Dockyard national Park. It was the only tour on the whole itenary that completley circumnavigated The island, which I thought was great. Especially that the island is so unique. The North Side is limestone, the east side is coral and the south is volcanic. Awesome! However if you are looking for a relaxing snorkel trip, do not go on this trip. This is an adventure! Rare Texed Posted August 20, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 20, 2004 Another vote for Eli. Not only will you have great snorkeling, but a great tour of the area around the island, a good history of the island , some great views and/or places of great interest, and a wonderful lunch. lauracruzer Posted August 24, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2004 Hi I agree with Dan this tour was excellent. Great snorkelling fantastic sites and more importantly the only tour on the whole itenaray that circumnavigates an island with so many stops. The north sound , bird island, green island Neslons dockyard and cades reef. two snorkel stops including cades reef which tehy told me was one of the largest barrier reefs in the eastern caribbean. Like dan I will not recommend this tour to people who don't like active adventure. Great tour Lauracruzer
