infohunter Posted July 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2007 As I was wandering around online today I came across the Food & Wine page that lists the chefs that will be on HAL for 2007. According to the info page: Onboard these selected sailings, guests will learn tricks-of-the-trade from top professionals and can try their hand at preparing dishes and tasting wines representative of the specific ports-of-call. Food & Wine will also design and provide recipe cards and wine tasting notes that guests may take home along with copies of the magazine. Other opportunities might include book signings, question and answer sessions, market tours in ports of call, specially designed on-board menus and more. For reference I'm listing the cruises that are currently listed for the remainder of 2007. Please remember that this info is subject to change. ldog Posted July 10, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 10, 2007 I wish there was one on our cruise too. We have a lot of sea days this time and I'm not too sure how we'll handle them. We've usually cruised with port intensive itineraries so not had a lot of time for the culinary arts offerings.
Golfette Posted July 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2007 I guess our 12/8 sailing won't have a chef either. Does anyone know if kitchen tours and/or culinary demos by house chefs are offered as a regular thing on HAL? We sailing on Oosterdam.
doone Posted July 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Yes they are. I believe this is just a list of "special" chef's onboard. They still have the regular culinary classes you can take.
Dance Fever Posted July 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks for giving me one MORE reason to be excited about my July 28th Oosterdam sailing! :D Am I right that you need to sign up for any special cooking classes on the day you board? Krazy Kruizers Posted July 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2007 If you are interested in a cooking class, you do need to sign up the first day at the front office. On some of the ships the classes fill up very quickly since they allow only 12 to a class.
GmaPajama Posted July 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2007 I continue to be amazed at the fascinating things you dig up, infohunter! Your good works are much appreciated!
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 10, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Thanks for posting the list of guest chefs. Months ago it was posted for the entire year but no one has bothered to take the time to bring up the subject again. It has been awhile since we have been on a cruise with a guest chef and it doesn't look like we will have any on our next cruises. Thanks
