Conquest Dancing Opportunities???

Cinderelli

Recommended Posts

Hi, some folks on my rool call asked a good question -- on FORMAL nights -- and I guess any night -- what kind of opportunities do they have for dancing -- especially when you're all dressed up?

What type of clubs, bars, music are going on there? And if you have an early seating for dinner, I guess you have to stay dressed, huh?

Thanks for answering.

We danced both at disco type dancing, and country and western. The band plays on one of the formal nights at the Captains cocktail party, and played all types of music(swing, walse, slow etc...). It is not mandatory that you stay dressed up after supper, but in my opinion, if you go to all the trouble to get all dressed up, why not stay dressed up and enjoy it for the evening? this is strictly my opinon and in no way is intended to dis anyone that chooses to go back to their cabin and "slip into something more comfortable" after dinner. i just think everyone looks so nice all dressed up and is an excellent chance to spend more money on the wonderful pics that the Carnival photographers take,

According to the back of my tickets -- where they say there is a SECRET number -- it says I am on Deck 6 -- cabin 6220. Because we are on an Oceanview guarantee, that could change.

What's your cabin & deck?

And what dinner seating are you? According to my FunPass registration, I am in the SECOND early seating at 6:15PM -- have to for the kiddies. Mine get so tired after 9PM, they would be asleep in their dinner plates on the late seating.

Have you all registered for your FunPass on Carnival.com to save time at check in?
And if you have an early seating for dinner, I guess you have to stay dressed, huh?
They call it "Formal Night," not just "Formal Dinner," for a reason.

Unfortunately, this is yet another published guideline that Carnival chooses to ignore. Why publish it if you're not going to do anything about it?

There are plenty of opportunities for dancing - several places on the ship. Heck it's a floating lounge :D (22 of them - if you count every little one). So get your dancing shoes on.

PS - Cinderelli - 6220 is a balcony - so it looks like up got an upgrade from that Oceanview guarantee - I hope it stays that way for you - you lucky thing.
The 6:15 seating is in the Renior (at least it was when we went in March 2003).

As far as Formal NIGHT. I have to say that if you have early dinner it's a lot to ask that everyone stay in formal wear the entire night - after all the Captain's party is before dinner - so if you have early dining you're getting dressed at like 5:00 (or sooner). Are those who have late dining times expected to be dressed formal at 5 with all the early diners?

I don't have a problem with people walking around the ship in their beach attire while I'm going to early dining - they shouldn't have a problem with me changing into something more comfortable when they are going to late dining. Just my opinion.

OK, I'm confused. When we booked the cruise, we were asked if we wanted 1st or 2nd dinner seating..we opted for first (same reason as Cinderelli). I am wondering now what time is the "1st" seating? Where will it be? We are sailing on the Conquest. Thanks

I'm not trying to be sarcastic or argumentative, this is a serious question. But, what about the people who choose not to dress up for formal night and eat on the Lido deck. Do they not go into the bars/shows/discos/clubs? If you choose not to dress up on that night do you have to stay on the Lido deck or in your cabin?

HarleyChick,
You are welcome to go into any lounge/bar/showroom. Years ago, people did seem to stay dressed up more, but now its fairly common to see "dressed down" folks after dinner. My sons dress for dinner in tuxes, then HURRY back to their room to don their jeans. LOL--I have even been known to "shed" my fancy clothes and 3" heels after dinner and go for comfort!!

The Conquest has two dining rooms so there are 2 early seatings and 2 late seating - spaced so that each room has time in between to serve everyone.

The Monet dining times are early 5:45 - late 8:45 and Renior early 6:15 - late 9:15 - someone correct me if the times are wrong - but you get the idea.

Most the time if you are located in the front part of the ship you will be in the front dining room (in this case Renior) - and visa versa for the back. This is not always the case - but usually. So using this theory for the Conquest if you have early and you are in the front of the ship you will have second early (6:15) in the Renior.

I hope this makes sense.

Kari, they ask you for a choice -- early or late. Because they have such a volume to feed, they have 2 dining rooms, with 1/2 hour apart timing, to spread out the preparation.

I went to the Carnival website, registered, went to check my listing -- click on MODIFY YOUR BOOKING and saw they had me for the Early Seating -- requested -- but listed the later one -- at 6:15, which our friend above says is in the Renoir dining room. The 6:15 timing is great for us, so you have a little extra time to get ready after an afternoon of fun.

Let me know which dining session you have!

Exactly the point I was trying to make - Yes, it is called Formal night - but that doesn't mean you have to stay dressed up all night - or get dressed up at all for that matter. We do enjoy getting dressed up - as we don't do it much in our everyday BORING life. I say to each their own. If you don't want to get dressed up and want eat on the Lido deck - more power to you. I'm not going to get upset. I think your missing out on some good food though - :D If you want to change after - GREAT - your choice. I've seen those who don't dress up at all and go to the dining room on Formal night. As long as they are wearing something suitable (no swimtrunks or shorts) then I'm ok with it.
