Dawn Caribbean: port or starboard

Recommended Posts

Hi, all!

I'm going to be booking an April, 2009 cruise this week on the Dawn -- this is the Eastern Caribbean itinerary with ports of call in Samana, St. Thomas, Tortola, and GSC. Does anyone have a preference for port or starboard cabins on that itinerary? (I realize that on many itineraries it doesn't matter, and this may be one -- but I've not been to Samana or Tortola, so I thought I'd ask in case there's a reason to care on this one). Thanks in advance for any help!

It is not going to matter which side. there are a lot of ships in those ports, and depending on the time you arrive is to where the ship will be berthed on the port side or the starboard side. Can't tell anything this far out for 09 with all of the other cruise lines.:)

Samana is a tender port

GSC is a tender port

St Thomas you dock straight on and starboard you can see the cable car

Tortola you dock straight on. There you see the hill side from all angles.

Hope this helps.

Happy Cruising,

Monty

It does help, thanks, and thanks also to the other poster! I sailed the Pride of Hawaii last month, where it does matter (portside gets the view of the Napali coastline from the cabin -- starboard won't unless the captain happens to turn the ship around, which not all of them do -- ours didn't). That's what prompted my question, and I appreciate the replies!

i always get port side. You can see everything from there especially when you come into the ports.I've never been to those places but the places I've been, I was glad to be on port side.
