canadiangirltoo Posted August 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2007 We are sailing on the Majesty from Charleston on January 5, 2008, and are looking for a hotel that would allow us to park the car for a week while on the cruise (and preferable one that has a shuttle to the cruiseport). Any suggestions and room rate information? Thanks a bunch!

BlueHerons Posted August 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2007 Personally, you couldn't pay me to stay in any of the hotels with free parking and shuttle service (Embassy and Radisson) because of the horrible North Charleston location. If the parking is free and the shuttles are free, it is a huge red flag to me. The Wentworth Mansion has free parking, you could walk to the cruise terminal, and is one of the top hotels in Charleston but your room will probably cost you $500 per night. leigh2205 Posted August 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2007 We took a cruise in Jan 2007 from Charleston and spent the night at the Springhill Suites Charleston Downtown/Riverview. It cost about $100, had free breakfast, pool, separate living space and bedroom and was one of the nicest places we've found. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to park there for the week without charging us anything. We just took a 5 - 10 min cab ride to the dock on Saturday for about $13 and it was no big deal. The hotel gave us the cab number to call (that they recommended) and we kept it with us for the ride back. I highly recommend staying here. Also, go to California Dreams for dinner. The hotel will give you a coupon - it's fantastic.
Coll101 Posted August 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2007 We stayed at the Holiday Inn, it was about 20 minutes from the port, but, we were able to park our cars there sor the week & had free shuttle to & from the port. Also got a great military rate!!:)
canadiangirltoo Posted August 11, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Thanks for your input, everyone! I just love CC and invaluable information everyone provides. Just had one more question - if a hotel offers shuttle service to and from the port, how difficult is it to get a shuttle from the ship back to the hotel? Are they waiting for you when you get off the ship or do you have to call them? Do a number of hotels share shuttles so that it makes numerous stops? Thanks again! canadiangirltoo
