D&TTexasCruisers Posted August 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2007 Has anyone cruised with a special needs child? We were told on the phone it will not be a problem and they will keep him in Camp Carnival but I just wanted to know if anyone else had done this and had any advice for us? eh2zed Posted August 12, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2007 you would need to get a definitive answer from CCL. We have a special needs grandson and because he is still diapers he couldn't use the club.
Cruzman Posted August 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2007 I've been cruising with my daughter since she was 14; she has Down Syndrone. It's never been a problem as she functions quite well with other children; especially those younger than her. She was still going to the Camp Carnival/ Club HAL, etc until she became 21 and they suddenly started to frown on it, so we find other kinds of entertainment. She absolutely loves to play the penny slots in the casino; especially when she wins, lol. I guess it all depends on what type of disability is involved, but I've seen lots of handicapped folks on most of the cruises I've been on. Good luck! I know this is kind of 'off topic'--but I just wanted to say hello--and let you know that I too have a 21 year old daughter with Down syndrome.:) While we have travelled everywhere with her--she won't be going (and has never been on) on our upcoming cruise. I am looking into a short 4 night cruise for next spring though, down the Pacific Coastline for our family. I have a feeling, she's going to love that. :D
