Early Departure off Ship

Athens is a docking port, so as soon as Greek authorities clear the ship, you can walk off. As long as you're not in a tender port, there's nothing stopping you from getting off the ship as soon as it's cleared. You don't have to talk to anyone.

The only thing I want to add is that sometimes ships are delayed in terms of being cleared by the local authorities. So, be sure that your tour company knows to be waiting for you even if you do not arrive at the appointed time.

The only thing I wanted to add was, please do not give anyone a hard time if there is a delay in clearing the ship. It won't get you off any faster. I have seen people pitching a huuuuuuuuuge fit because they had to wait a whopping 30 minutes to disembark!

Delays can happen, so definetly go with the flow.

I agree that you should have no problem getting off the ship in Athens. With all the things you need to plan for a Med trip, this is not one you need to concern yourself with.
