What is a hump cabin

Recommended Posts

This may be a silly question, but what is a hump cabin and what are the

advantages of them?

They are at the 'center' of the ship, or actually where the main elevators are placed. Easy access to everything!:p

They also protrude slightly from the side of the ship, offering a great view if you are in the two cabins in the center, or a somewhat restricted view (port or aft ) on either side of the two center ones! Interesting set up!:)

Viewing the 'cabin selection forum' will offer many other 'views' on the hump'! :D

JJ2sail's picture is the starboard side of the Radiance. On the port side the elevators are in the center of the hump with two cabins forward and two cabins aft. On the Brilliance (Radiance's sister ship) I was in E-1 on 7th Deck on second cabin forward. The balcony was wedge shaped and had 2 regular chairs and a lounge chair. Loved it!

Thanks everyone, I'm sailing on the 9/28/2007 sailing of the Explorer of

the Seas to New England / Canada, and have cabin number 7620, which

appears to be a hump cabin. Can't wait, and am counting down the days!

1620 is not the Owners Suite but the Royal Suite.

This is the Mariner on her Port side.

As you can see they bow out from the ship. These cabins are the same size as any other cabin in their category and most of them have the same size balcony. Only a few of them on certain areas of the hump have a larger balcony. These cabins are in a great location, have a great view, have totally private balconies because you are out further from the ship than all others, are near the elevators and the stairs, and yet there is no extra noise because of that. ;)

On the Radiance class ships especially, there are hump cabins with bigger balconies. They are usually the ones on the ends of the Hump and the 4 cabins on the Port side with the elevators.

Yes, 7620 is a center hump cabin. I believe port and starboard are the same on Explorer, no outside elevators.

Explorer hump.......

You are correct. She is exactly as the Mariner. ;)
