Dutch Dinner?

The Dutch Dinner on the AMSTERDAM two weeks ago was truly a poor shadow of its past. There was a red, white , and blue ribband running the length of the table and a few nods towards the Dutch on the menu, but that was it. Certainly nothing that would want me to come back for another.

DH and I always wear the hats. Why not?! It's a hoot! We also have one of the decorated hats from a cruise on the Noordam about 4-5 years ago. I think our wine steward did it for us. It had his name, our names, the ships name and ports of call. I love it, but am afraid to leave it out, as I don't want it to fade. It is in my photo album.

Please, what is "julienne of omelet???" And "hodge podge??" I appreciate the "occasion," but the menu sounds very heavy to me. We're traveling to Mexican Riviera & I expect it to be warm. The "Dutch Menu" definitely does not go with hot weather cruising. Hopefully, there are alternate choices if one does not want the Dutch meal?
