7 hour LA layover what to do

Never been to LA before and we have a 7 hour layover between flights. Probably will have 4 hours or so to kill by the time we clear Customs and the time we need to get back by. What advice can you give us regarding things to do, HOHO, transit, tours, etc. Any ideas welcome.

You could take a cab or that shuttle bus to Santa Monica Pier. Its fun and a good way to kill time, and not super far away.

Would have to be close as traffic jams (which are common here, especially around LAX) can eat up your time. Santa Monica isn't that far away. The Third Promenade will give you a taste of LA, with its stores, eateries, street performers.

We will be there 10/14 with a 12 hour layover. We are renting a car at Enterprise (across the street from the pier) and going to Universal Studios then driving ourselves to LAX where we will drop off the car.

The nice thing here is we don't have to pay cab fares and carry our luggage around all day!

 

By the way, you must call the location. Their website states their closed on Sundays, but they do open at 9am!
