RCCL Cruises to New England/Canada

DH and I are looking into a cruise next year for our fifth anniversary. We've decided we definitely want to cruise to New England/Canada. A few have caught our eye, Caribbean Princess out of New York, Explorer of the Seas out of Bayonne, NJ, and Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore, MD. For us the one out of Baltimore would be easiest as we could get someone to drop us off at the port. But was also wondering, as we are previous cruisers on Celebrity, and they are owned by RCCL do we get any credit as previous cruisers with RCCL? Beyond all that how is an October cruise to Canada and New England? Sorry for so many questions.

If you are already Select or Elite in Celebrity's Captain Club, then you will get the benefits of the equivalent level membership on RCCL. You don't receive anything though if you are just at the Classic level in Captain's Club.

Select would get you Platinum C&A Benefits. Elite would get you Diamond C&A Benefits.

We just returned from the 9 night cruise on the Grandeur out of Baltimore to New England and Canada and had a wonderful time. This was our fourth time on the Grandeur (we love the ship) but the first time going north. It was all new ports of call for us and we really had a great time.

Hi....As a previous Celebrity cruiser, your credits are recognized by Royal Caribbean. If you are planning to cruise in October, remember that the north Atlantic is not the Caribbean. The waters will be cold, therefore possibly choppy. And it will probably be pretty chilly weather. If none of those are deal breakers for you, then whichever one you chose should be great.

We did the Grandeur out of Baltimore to Canada/New England the end of August and loved, loved , loved the itinerary. It was very easy to get to the port and embarkation was a breeze. We had perfect weather and the seas were like glass but this was August not October.

That being said and the fact that we did have a great time, we do still prefer Celebrity, service and food we feel is better but that is subjective.

You will enjoy whatever you choose.

DH and I did the Grandeur out of Baltimore to N.E./Canada the end of August and it was wonderful. Liked it so much we booked the same cruise again for next year. We had thought about the one leaving out of Port Liberty, NJ, but who wants the hassle of Newark airport - and the cost of flying. If you live near Baltimore I think it's a no-brainer: take the Grandeur. You can't go wrong.
