In 2006 we used Swissotel The Stamford. The room condition was moderate at that time, humidity seems to make Asian rooms look tired even if they’ve been refurbished in the past year or two. But the view over the eastern harbour was fabulous, made it all worthwhile. And the location was ideal for malls and dining too. Raffles is only 2 blocks away if you want to join the other tourists in the Long Bar. Also there are good underground mall connections to keep you out of the afternoon rainstorm. The boat tours and the tourist strips along the old river are within a reasonable walk, the sidewalk restaurants in the upper part were quite nice.

Have a good visit, Bill

We stayed at Raffles Plaza, which is connected to the same shopping malls etc as the Stamford, and is directly across the road from the "real" Raffles. Our room was beautiful and huge (forget what sort of room it was...deluxe or grand or something) but it had two walls of glass with fantastic views. We were there for a week and found it very convenient.
