Seattle Monorail fire

Those of you planning on using the monorail for transportation in Seattle should come up with an alternate plan. Sounds like both trains will be out of service for the foreseable future.

Looks like it will be down all summer. They are doing an investigation and need to do a safety retrofit on at least one of the trains. I think they are running buses between the Seattle Center and downtown but that just not the same!

You won't miss the Monorail in Seattle, as you have so many other options to use. They have horse and buggy to get you around, they have water front trolleys, and city transit. If your on a cruise ship, you dock at the best place to see lots.... all in walking distance. The water front is like a fun plex. We go to the water front for a special day trip. And we live here.. Must see is Pike street Market.. and you can walk to it from the peir area..

We sure will enjoy our time there. We will meet some local friends and let them show us their city :) but we will do the water front, Pike Market and Space Needle by ourselves:)

They have a free shuttle bus that picks you up right in front of where the monorail ran. Not the same, but at least it was free. Bus runs 7-7 M-F and 9-9 S-S.

im so glad no one was hurt. hopefully it will be up and running soon. i wont be there untill next may and would like to ride the rail if fixed.
