Gambling Age on Princess

Just curious if anyone knows why the gambling age on Princess is 21 and not 18 like Carnival and RCCL.

I would like to go on the Caribbean Princess, but my daughter and her boyfriend like to go in the casino.

I know we shouldn't base out choice of cruises on this, but I am curious.

Thanks

Alcohol and Gaming Policy for Underage Passengers

Princess is mindful that we offer a vacation experience, which includes the availability of alcoholic beverages and gambling, and therefore we have strict policies in place to prevent underage passengers from participating in these activities. No passenger under the age of 21 years is allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages or to participate in gaming activities. All onboard staff are trained to take seriously their responsibility to not serve alcohol to underage passengers, nor to allow them to participate in any gaming activities, and this is monitored closely by shipboard management. Disciplinary action would be taken against a crew member for violating this policy.

The age restrictions are clearly posted in every bar, and are also communicated in the daily passenger newsletter called the Princess Patter and through the in-cabin literature. We further have a monitoring system in place with our passenger cruise cards, an identification card carried by each passenger which must be presented to make any purchase on board, including beverages. They are also required to request secondary identification from any passenger who looks younger than the age requirement. Underage passengers are not allowed to be in any gaming areas, except to pass through if the casino is located in a thoroughfare. Because bingo is typically played in a public area outside of the casino, passengers under the age of 21 years may attend the game if they are accompanied by an adult 21 years or older, but they may not purchase or actively play a bingo ticket, nor may they claim a prize. Additionally, passengers under the age of 18 years are not allowed in the disco after 11PM.
