winemistress45 Posted November 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 5, 2007 What time is tea time onboard and where is it served on Zuiderdam? Is this an open seating situation?
kakalina Posted November 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 5, 2007 It usually served in the lower level main DR and almost always 3:00 to 3:30pm. Yes, it is open seating.

cage keeper Posted November 7, 2007 #6 Share Posted November 7, 2007 Can you explain the Tea in detail? This is our first HAL cruise and a cruise that serves Tea. We would love this. We currently have late seating but were consitering changing it to sit with friends. We will keep late seating and do the tea in the afternoon. Thanks, Joni
kakalina Posted November 7, 2007 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2007 If you are on a shorter cruise most likely you will just have the daily tea. It is very nice. The seating is open which I like. You will be offered a choice of freshly brewed HAL tea or a large chest of Bigelow flavored teas. I really like the Cinnamon Stick tea. Then waiters will hover with plates of little slices of cake such as banana, butter cake, scones with jam or cream etc . Your tea will be refreshed. Then the waiter circulates with the finger sandwiches, cucumber, cream cheese, etc. Your tea will be refreshed. Then the waiters come out with platters of pastries. Teeny tiny cream puffs, more cakes etc. It is all done in half an hour and is delightful although I wish it were longer. You may be offered the Indonesian tea which is a little fancier with an offering of Indonesian teas and delicacies. The last is the Royal Dutch Tea which is amazing. It is more of a large buffet. With platters of food dressed to look like musicians , fountains of liquid chocolate with mounds of fresh fruit. Cakes and pastries to die for and chocolate covered strawberries. Generally you are allowed through first to take photos then Voila, it is opened up to eat from. Once that happens it doesn't last long. On our 30 day cruise we had two of them. Yum-yum.
