mysticalblues Posted September 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2004 I will be staying in Miami for 2 days prior to my cruise...For someone that is not a perfect size 10, which is a better place to stay...South Beach or Downtown Miami? mysticalblues Posted September 4, 2004 Author #2 Share Posted September 4, 2004 I also heard that Downtown Miami isn't that great of an area. Is this true?
lmondrop Posted September 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2004 HI I live in Miami - First and foremost a perfect size 10 is nothing to be concenrned about....YES they are hard bodies and fake parts....but there are also perfect size 20's in g-string bikini's which makes you wonder...BUT more power to them. If you are coming to Miami....then b all means stay on South BEach and get to know what Miami is really is all about. Regardless of your size. I happen to be a size 10 as well. and I live on the beach every weekend...besides a nice golden tan always makes you look thinner! Felicia
stlrboo Posted September 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2004 We did the Hyatt downtown this past April.. Walked back and forth from the hotel to Bayside Marketplace without a hitch... Cabs are also available as well as the people-mover. Holiday Inn is directly across Biscayne Blvd. from Bayside, and I've heard good reports obout it, as well as the Intercontinental just up the street. We had no problems and we were out after dark..
CruiseFever Posted September 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2004 With two days I'd stay downtown but plan on visting South Beach for sure. I don't think you've seen Miami until you've seen South Beach and it's an easy cab ride there and back. Here's more on hotels: http://www.lifeiscruising.com/hotel_reservations As far as the safety factor of downtown I've never felt threatened with my family on any of our visits. It IS downtown and at night I am somewhat on guard, just like I might be anywhere that is not home. Here's more on downtown and South Beach too
jsy Posted September 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 5, 2004 Hi, I have reservations for Clarion Hotel and Suites on Fourth St. near Bayside Market in February for one night before our cruise. Of course after making our reservations, I have read horrible reviews about this hotel. Now I don't know what to do. There's a charge of $25 to cancel. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? Thanks!
CTMak Posted September 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2004 We are staying on 9/19 at Royal Palm Crowne Plaza resort in South Beach ($69 via Hotwire). Have reservations at Emerils for dinner. I will tell you what's it's like when we get back from our 4-night Fasacination cruise -- provided the weather doesn't alter those plans. mayrashke Posted September 5, 2004 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2004 HI, Hope you can help me out. We are going to do the Priceline Hotel for our pre cruise1 or 2 nights.(Jan.23 is our cruise)We are staying Downtown Miami because it should be cheaper..?. But we(the kids are 13,7) want to go to the Beach. Or would you suggest getting a Hotel in Miami Beach area?? Which Beach would you suggest?? (Although I hear the hurricane might be removing some of the sand..??) We do not want to shop, just laze on the Beach. If we have the 2 days, we might want to do something..?drive and take a Everglades tour for the day. Thanks in advance.
