First timer needs help with parking

We will be driving to NY for the February Gem sailing. I know there is a parking lot at the Pier, but what do we do once we park the car? How do we get to where we check in and do we have to carry our luggage?

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but thanks for your help.

The parking lot is right next to the pier. After you park you do carry your luggage but just a short distance to the escalators or elevators that take you down to the porters that check your luggage in. The check in area is in that same building.

First timer needs help with parking .

Well first you find an open space, then you turn the steering wheel in the direction of the open space, slowing down so not as to clip the cars next to your space. You then pull into the space, straightening up the car as you pull in. You then roll to a stop once the rear of your car has cleared the driving lane but before you bump the car parked ahead of you.

(sorry, had to do it, I'm in a goofy mood today.....)

This is actually quite easy. As you pull into the oneway driveway along the pier, pull over when you see the porters taking luggage- drop off your checked luggage (making sure each has a ship's luggage tag LOL). Then continue along the driveway until you see the ramp going up to to your right-(it's marked) drive up to the parking level (which is on top of the pier). A security guard will be up top to wave you into the right lot (and take your money). Also, there will probably be a "sniffer" dog to check your car. After parking (see directions from the last poster LOL), round up all your carry-ons, take a few pics of your ship & then take the elevator down one level to check in. Easy! Although you could leave off your passengers when you drop off your luggage, we chose to stay together (for fear that we wouldn't be able to find each other in the vast check-in area).

When you return, it's more convenient to lug all your luggage up the elevator to the parking level. (There are porters at the dock to help).
