Questions for Nassau Natives.....Colyn, are you there?

Hi,
Wanted some expert opinions...or non expert opinions on Nassau since I will be there this June for the day. We are docked from 11:30am until 10pm.
We were considering the Blue Lagoon excursion offered by Carnival. What do you think of Blue Lagoon? Are chairs available? Is the snorkeling good there?
Also, after booking this cruise, I went and looked into the weather for the Bahamas, and (sadly) it seems that June is the rainiest month of the year, getting nearly 12 inches on average during that month. What are my chances of having some sunshine while I am there??
Are there other beaches that you would recommend a tourist should see whose never been to the Bahamas?

I'm not a native, but I've lived in Nassau for several years, so I hope I can help you out with this.

Blue Lagoon is a very nice, but a bit over-commercialized tip of an island. It has chairs, hammocks, gift shops, a grill, souveniers and pretty good snorkeling. The beaches are beautiful, the water gin-colored. It's a great day at the beach.
They also have the dolphin encounter and Stingray City, which you need to book seperately and in advance.

Locals even go there for their own family outtings. You'll enjoy the day.

As for rain in June, normally, rain comes quickly and passes in a few minutes. Usually sun showers, and they dry up quickly.

We're hoping for rain, since we're in a dry spell at the moment. Unusual for this time of year.

We took a cab ($5pp) to the Crystal Palace Casino, walked to the back of the casino and were on the beach. There were plenty of lounge chairs, we had our Carnival towels and no one bothered us. There was a lot of seaweed in the water and it was a little too cold for me, but others enjoyed it.
Another person in our group took the shore tour to Blue Lagoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. From her pictures it looked like the water was a little calmer, not that it was really too rough at Cable Beach, just little waves.
As far as rain, I know you do not want your vacation ruined, but from the look of the vegetation they really need the rain.
Whatever you do, you will love the Miracle. She is a great ship with a great crew. Excellent food and entertainment!

5/2 Miracle cruise
