best beach to go to

We will be in Barbados in Feb 2008, also looking for a nice beach. Last year we went to a beach which we did not like at all, the taxi cab driver took us to the Blue Monkey Beach. It was the worst place, there were hawkers all over. They were fighting with each other over who was going to rent us jet skis. One man called the police on them. Hopefully this time we will find something a little more pleasant. :)

I guess I can google barbados beaches and see what I come up with

-OR- you could just save yourself some time

and go thru the countless threads on this Barbados forum

that have addressed the subject.

It's been done before,trust me!:)

This may help you decide.

This same basic story recurs...all the time...with the same name cropping up time and again.

I very much doubt it's the actual bar, or anything the bar does

that encourages the sort of loutish behaviour this beach is now 'famous' for..

..let me make that clear,please!

It's the 'beach boys' who frequent that particular beach

who are the problem!

I got chewed out a few months back for a blunt-but-realistic comment I made

so I'm taking this opportunity to vindicate myself, if I may...:)

Thank you for mentioning this unpleasant experience of yours.

I apologise for the crude behaviour of some of my fellow-islanders.

No need for an apology, my own fault for not reading up on the beaches first. It was actually the Taxi driver who told us it was a great beach, and once we got there he had a group of "Beach Boys run up to him and he told us only to deal with them, I thought I was in some turf war, lol. Thanks for the great pictures of the beaches, they all look great.:)

We took a minivan to Crane Beach a few years ago...a bit of a ride, but great for body surfing. At the time there was only one "hawker" who left us alone after we politely declined. We had lunch & a cocktail after our beach time in the hotel restaurant before we headed back to the ship.

Would anyone be able to tell me of a great beach to go to to hang out and swim and relax, and have a few drinks.

To hang out, relax, drink beer and eat, I highly recommend BRANDON'S BEACH and Weiser's Bar/Restaurant. Great snorkeling, and real close to the ship. Cheap, too!

Pictures and Review can be found in my AMSTERDAM signature. :)

I am looking for something more sedate than the Boatyard.

We went Accra Beach ( aka Rockley) during our December cruise. Beautiful turquiose water and nice sand. I expected the beach to be longer than it was though. Don't get me wrong..its still a good size and you can walk it definately. There's also a few restaurants in the area and a string of shops across the street. Great beach to just play in the waves or lazy in your lounger and another bonus was that it wasn't very busy the day we were there!
