Alaska Weather in September? A few Questions!

Hi!! My husband and I are going on an Alaskan Cruise (probably RCC Rhapsody of the Seas) in late August/early September. We were wondering what the weather will be like that time of year. Will lots of the mountains be covered in snow? Will there be lots of icebergs or ice chunks in the water? How cold will it be?

We've seen so many pictures from Alaskan Cruises, but sometimes it looks like the mountains are really green without much snow.

Thanks for any help!! :)

We did RCCL (I think Seranade of the seas)- Weather was cool and clear except for one day at Mendenhal glacier when it poured. We did the 4 day land too- there was snow on Mt McKinley. There were some brave people in the hot tubs and they did have an indoor pool.

We did see the calving of the glaciers from our balcony(they went thru this part very early in the morning.

We also saw whales and eagles(when in port)

Loved this cruise to Alaska - thinking about doing it again

On the cruise portion it will be just about all green. Come in May if you want the snow covered mts.

This is the latest I consider going to Alaska, first week of Sept. Later has the worse potential for foul weather and dusk by 7pm.

September tends to have more rain than the other months. It can get really cold when sailing into Tracy's Arm when the wind is blowing the cold air from the glacier field. You won't see fresh snow capped mountain. But you will see a lot of glacier fields (hanging glaciers) up on the mountain.
