I highly recommend the PARROT CLUB in Old San Juan. They offer a unique upscale/tropical atmosphere, and have excellent food.

 

I make a point to go there for dinner each & every time I'm in San Juan.

I also recommend Dragonfly. It's from the same owners of the Parrot Club at South of Fortaleza Street or SoFo. It's an awesome restaurant!! A little bit pricey and definitively not for kids. Don't forget to try the Dumplings! I'm Puertorrican and I never leave Puerto Rico without visiting Dragonfly or the Old San Juan area.

Just got back from San Juan and I recommend Cafe Amapola in Old San Juan . You can take the free trolley there (stop #21) Its right near El Morro and you can sit on the terrace overloking the ocean. Good food and great Mojitos! Check it out at http://www.cafeamapola.com/

Just be careful. I read in a PR travel book to avoid the intersection of San Sebastian/Tanca/Norzagaray at night.
