sunshine95030 Posted September 24, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2004 I'll be on the 12/20 Island Princess to Hawaii, and wonder if anyone knows if Princess will allow us to bring a few bottles onboard. My mom was on the Pacific Princess to Alaska last year and did so with no problem, but I've seen a couple items on cruisecritic stating otherwise. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks! roohound Posted September 24, 2004 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2004 yes you can. From the FAQ section on the Princess homepage: Question: What is the alcohol policy onboard Princess Cruises?Answer: We kindly request that you do not bring alcoholic beverages (other than wine and/or champagne) onboard for consumption. Alcoholic beverages that are purchased duty free from the ship's gift shop or at ports of call will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage. A member of our Security Staff will be at the gangway to assist with the storage of your alcoholic beverage purchases.

bardgal Posted September 24, 2004 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2004 I always carry a case of champagne on - never a problem - other than my arms getting tired. ;)
johnmik1 Posted September 25, 2004 #6 Share Posted September 25, 2004 We usually do 10 or 15 day cruises and bring a case of wine every time.
sunshine95030 Posted December 14, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted December 14, 2004 Do you carry the case on or put it through as luggage? We'll have a regular wine case and I'm kind of concerned the bottles may break if checked as luggage.
johnmik1 Posted December 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2004 We have a carryon that holds 12 bottles perfectly. We have some sponge fillers to keep the bottles from hitting each other. We then wheel it on the ship.Never even had it looked at by Princess. newbiejay Posted December 15, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 15, 2004 Princess allows you to bring wine and champagne on. We wrapped wine in bubble wrap and carried it on in a small wheeled luggage. Would never check it though - too much chance of it breaking.
PTJD Posted December 16, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 16, 2004 We always go to a local wine store in FLL or long beach and buy a case in the original cardboard box 12 pk ( they do ship wine in these cartons). We put a tag on it and hand it over to the porters at the pier and never had problems. We do give them a good tip.
elliair Posted December 16, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 16, 2004 Wrap it, bag it, give it to the porter with a nice tip. We've never had any trouble taking wine on board.
