Tell me more about Navigator activities

I was hoping to get a little more info on specific sea day activities for the Bermuda itinerary as we are still undecided. I could lounge all day just eating and reading a book but the rest of the family likes to be busy and this itinerary has several sea days. I realize activities aren't as programmed or as frequent as the other mass market lines and that there are lectures, the pool, computer, casino, spa, etc. but I have some other specific questions. Are the trivia games similar to those on Celebrity,RCI, etc or are they more "intellectual" rather than fun/lighthearted? How often do they have trivia and do they have other interactive activities/games? How often do they have Bingo and how much is it? I am almost afraid to ask but is there karaoke (I won't do it but love to watch). Are there any board games available to borrow? Is there a card room (besides playing bridge)? Do they show movies? Do they do galley tours, cooking demos? Can anyone give me some specific examples of recent shows/entertainment? Can (well behaved) teenagers participate in trivia, Bingo, etc. or do the other passengers "frown" on this?

We thought the evening entertainment on Navigator was first rate. Since the production cast does only one performance per night, they have exceptional energy and talent. On our Bermuda cruise, we enjoyed an excellent classical pianist and a former Broadway musical star.

The trivia contest are very well attended as they occur after the afternoon tea. We found the competition very keen as compared to other cruise lines.

My wife thought the fitness classes were very good.

Our only complaint was the limited repetoire of the musicians who provided the dance music in various lounges (big band night featured a five peice band with two guitarists and no brass?).

On the En Route to Norfolk night, they held Karaoke from 10:45 to 11:30. Can't comment how good it was. I used to sing in a band, so to me, singing is work, not fun, and I don't do it anymore.

There is a card room. Not always used for bridge only. Lots of games available. Can't comment on the prices of bingo. Given the group of people, I'd think the trivia was fun rather than serious. Everyone was there to have a good time. I cannot imagine your teenagers not being able to participate. I'd be shocked if that were the case.

Library was well stocked. Computer on-line time was reasonable. Casino was open when allowed by law.

Personally, I thought the shows were terrific. Also, lots of things to see and do. I can't imagine being bored. That said, Todd and I are like you. As long as we can read a good book and see the ocean we are happy.

I know at least one person who is going back to Celebrity because she felt the Navigator and RSSC didn't offer enough nightly activities. Everyone has different tastes. You won't find as many activities as you'll see on the big mass-market ships, of course. On the other hand, Navigator is head and shoulders above the other ships doing this route. If I were you, I'd give it a shot for the itinerary. You can't find a better ship to go to Bermuda on. After that, you can judge if RSSC is right for the whole family on other itineraries.

Let me know if you need any more info. (I'm a scrapbooker, so my Passages and notes are always easy to find.) :)

Thank you KatWag! Is there really a ping pong table on the navigator? Awhile back I had called RSSC and this was one of the specific questions I asked and they told me no. However, you listed a ping pong tournement as one of the activities.
