Maybe Gene Kelly liked dancing and singingin the rain..I have had enough...

A note to all cruisers..

Several cruise lines have pitched in to support the relief efforts in some of the hardest-hit Caribbean islands. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have contributed more than $1.5 million to help Caribbean nations affected by the storms. Princess will send a tender from the Caribbean Princess to Grand Cayman with water, food and clothing. NCL has said it will donate water, food and other goods to the relief efforts in the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, Grenada and Jamaica. And Carnival donated $1 million to help Florida's victims of Hurricane Charley.

In this world you gotta give as well as take...my hat is off to the cruise industry

I posted same news and sentiment earlier today. I am relieved that the industry and corporations I patronize will step up to help. I know Floridians are suffering terribly too, and deserve every bit of aid their state and federal governments can give them. But, the islanders are not that fortunate. I doubt that the small businesses and private homeowners have the insurance or public funds to fall back on. My few dollars to the Red Cross won't go far. The cruise line industry hasn't been very welcome. I can understand that. Being invaded by several thousands of tourists from huge ships must be challenging. Substantial help from the industry that benefits so much from their hospitality is both the right thing to do morally, and the smart thing to do financially. I believe capitalism can be practiced ethically. I do hope that the cruise lines that give receive publicity. Good news isn't as 'sexy' but can help everyone.
