Tefloncruiser Posted May 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted May 16, 2008 I am booked in an AE Aft cabin on the Sun to Alaska. As a new and very excited first-timer, I have been checking and re-checking my sailing to see how many rooms are left at various levels (in hopes that the up-sell fairy might call). About 2 weeks ago, all the AE's were gone and there were only AD's and above available (in the suite category). Last week I checked and all of a sudden there were AF's available that I had never seen before...and we booked back in January!!! Now, all of a sudden, the AE right next to ours is once again available!!! Any thoughts, ideas, experience with this phenomenon? Is this the result of the up-sell fairy? Or does NCL hold back rooms and release them as the sail date gets closer? Inquiring minds want to know!!!!
garycarla Posted May 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Not unusual. People all in and hold a room. Then it comes back. People make a reservation, then change their mind. People move to another room. All kinds of things happen.
Ms belp Posted May 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Potential cruisers can book a "courtesy hold". Go ahead and book the cruise of your dreams! Your memories will stay with you forever!
watchdiva Posted May 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 16, 2008 TA's hold blocks of rooms as well - and if unsold they are released back into the NCL inventory......... Have a great cruise!
retiredonthesea Posted May 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 17, 2008 Also groups hold a % of rooms until they can get an accurate account of how many cabins will be needed, then release the ones not needed.
