Summit - how is she looking?

We are considering the Summit for our first Celebrity cruise. We normally go on Princess. However, some of the reviews commenting on the appearance of the ship have me concerned. Is there really anything perceptible or are the complaints simply nit-picking?

We were on the Summit in March, right before the transatlantic, and we had a wonderful cruise. Our cabin was in tiptop shape, and we did not notice any major problems. Like every extremely large "hotel", I sure we could have found some worn carpet, etc. but there was nothing glaring, and nothing that caused us to be anything but thrilled to be going back on the Summit in June.

We sailed the TransAtlantic right before the drydock last month.

I have been really surprised by the reviews that mentioned that the ship was in poor shape, or it looked worn. Certainly, there were a few areas where the carpet needed replacing (which it apparently was during dry dock). The deck railings were all in rough shape, but that's because they were planing them prior to varnishing (again, done during dry dock).

There were only three things that I thought were a bit worn and needed some help --- the draperies in our cabin had been caught a few times in the balcony door latch and had some grease & holes. The seating in the theatre was a bit threadbare at stress points, and the general decor of the Bar at the Edge of the Earth was just dated.

Was all of the decor and artwork to my taste? No, but that doesn't mean the ship needs to be re-done. We both thought the ship was in very good shape.

Just my 2 cents worth!

She is in great shape, and the crew and service we excellent, as was the dining room for dinner.

She is not a new ship, but she is in excellent shape. Ony problem we had was our TV did not work correctly and for some reason they were unable to fix it (Menu button would not work so we couldn't see our bills or sign up for excursions from our room. Very small problem).

Unless you like ballroom dancing you will love this ship. For my tastes the dance floors were much too small, and one was rubber instead of wood. The Century is much better for dancing, and she is a smaller boat.
