BopRN Posted April 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2004 Has anyone had a connecting room where you didn't know the persons next door? Are TV and other sounds a problem? Does the door take up precious space? Does cigarette smoke seep thru under the door? How secure does the door seem? PR1NCESSD1ANE Posted April 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We just returned from the Navigator and had a connecting room with our children. We thoroughly enjoyed it since we shared it with our family, however, I have vowed to never book a connecting room again unless we also occupied the other room. I would close the door at night to go to sleep and my kids would stay awake in the other watching TV. Even with the TV at a moderate volume, you could still hear it in my room. I can't answer the smoking issue but can tell you first hand you will be able to hear voices and TVs even at a moderate volume.
Martino Posted April 5, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We had a connecting cabin on the Serenade....didn't know the people next door and never heard (or smelled) anything from their cabin. As we were a family of 4 staying in one room, I cannot tell you if we were heard by them or not. Family of 14 Posted April 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2004 The doors are secure. I have also vowed never to book a connecting room on a cruise or in a hotel. They do take up valuable space and they are noisy! Yes, you can smell smoke (and Marijauna...as I found from having a connecting hotel room). gambler Posted April 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We had a connecting room on the Radiance (did not know the other people) The door was at the end, right where you would walk out on the balcony. We had no problems and heard no noise. SeaUThere Posted April 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2004 We had a connecting room on Celebrity Galaxy. We did not know the 2 girls next door. (20 somethings). They would come back to their room late at night (after partying) and they were VERY LOUD! I would never book another room with an adjoining cabin. You just never know who is going to be next door. For our upcoming cruise in September, I specified to our TA that I did not want a room with a connecting cabin.
