atlantis question

I don't know how much admission is to the aquarium. You cannot walk outside of the hotel/casino. Whenever there is a cruiseship in port they post guards at all the exits to the pool and beach area. They check id's. In order to swim in pool or use slides you must show your room key and they give you a wrist band that is the color of the day. I just returned from the Atlantis last month and they are very strick. I was "carded" all the time.
You are free to walk inside the resort, visit the shops, spend your money in the casino and eat but you cannot use the pools. If you go the aquarium I believe you can walk around the pool and beach areas.

...I too had trouble getting into Atlantis...and was sent down the street to access the beach.
Others have mentioned on the boards that they go there...I wonder if you can buy an excursion package?
Of course- we asked for directions to the beach....
BUT I wonder if you stroll in like you know where your going....maybe they dont stop yu?
Good LUCK!

We paid $50 each (last week) to go through the "Dig" and the Aquarium. We've done this before, so we did not take the guided tour and walked through on our own. You can take the guided tour for no extra cost, and then wander around on your own after the tour. We went through the dig, walked to the beach, and then went to the slides and watched people for a while. We walked anywhere we wanted, with no problems. We didn't pay to use the slides, or pools... they had different colored wrist bands. We had lunch and enjoyed our afternoon there. It is an amazing aquarium, and we love aquariums... so it was well worth the cost.

Wow! They've certainly raised their prices. When we were there two years ago it was only $25 each to go through the digs. You can see part of the aquarium from inside the hotel if you don't want to pay the price. I thought that was quite enough and saw a lot of different fish and even saw the divers go in to feed them. We did walk around the grounds, no one stopped us but we didn't chance trying to get on the beach. We walked back down toward the public beach access and got on down there near the Sheraton. If you want to use the slides and pools you do need to book a "day" room at the hotel. I believe it runs around $200 which includes 4 wristbands.

We went through the Atlantis for Free! We took a taxi as soon as our ship allowed us off. If you arrive by a certain time of the morning you can walk around and do the aquarium for free. We also got to walk around outside and around the pools and see the pyramid slide. No one tried to stop us. We had read that you could do this prior to our last cruise on Celebrity.

Once a certain time comes (sorry, can't remember if it is 9:30 or 10am) you need an arm band to get around.

We did this in June 2002. Not sure if things still work the same.

Hmmm. Wonder if that's why we were able to get in free this week. We took the 9:30 water taxi and walked for another 12-15 minutes to the Atlantis. We asked about the aquarium, but were too cheap to pay $25 each, as we have a good aquarium a few hours away. We walked all around the hotel, saw some of the fish in an area around the cafe just beyond the casino, walked through the gardens and watched the kids at the slide through the shark tank. As the water taxi is only $1 less than the regular taxi, we took the regular taxi back to the ship for lunch. Nancy

I have been to Atlantis three times in the last couple years. The first time we were able to tour some of Atlantis, but there was security by ALL entrances to pool area and the dig. We were kind of annoyed, so we decided to just go to the beach.

The second time we got a room at the Comfort Suites...so we got wristbands. We were able to see all of Atlantis and use the pools for the day.

The third time we were able to tour all of Atlantis...the pool area and the dig. It was Sunday morning and there was no security. We did not hang out by the pool for the day, just walked around. Without a wristband, I'm sure you would not be allowed to use the slides, etc.

I would recommend just going to Atlantis...see what you can for free, and then decide if you want to pay $$$ to see more. You can sign up for tour in lobby area.

We have been there 3 times and have never had to pay just to go through the dig and see the aquariums. It could be because we were there later on in the evening. It is beautiful at night.

We usually eat dinner at the Poop Deck (excellent seafood!), which is at the marina at the foot of the Paradise Island bridge. Then we walk across the bridge into the Atlantis casino and on out to do the rest of our exploring. Drinks are free, by the way.

You may want to consider trying this if you will be there at night.
