Disney Cruise w/ Infant Question

Long time Disney Cruiser. First time with a baby. We're expecting!

Looking at our schedules it seems like the first chance we'll get to have another vacation will be 11/09 since baby is on the way. By then she'll be about 1.

I feel guilt because I don't know if thats an ideal time for her to cruise but its shaping up to be the only time to get out of the house. Another consideration is that the pricing for the 11/28 Western sailing is really good.

Any thoughts? Is 1 too young?

CONGRATS on your upcoming bundle of joy!

And no, 1 is not too young to cruise. Our DS went on his first Disney cruise when he was much younger. But, that was us, and we were lucky because he was a good easy-going baby.

Actually--everyone needs to make their own decision based on the disposition of their child. Some kids may not be able to handle a vacation at that young. When we first started cruising with our DS, we only took a 3 or 4 day cruise. And, we were able to drive to the port, so no extra hassle of flying.

Also, there has been a lot of debate on these boards about the health/well-being of infants on a cruiseline. So, you will definitely need to factor that in. If your baby ends up having a rough first year (lots of colds or ear infections) then you may not want to subject him to the at-times germ-filled atmosphere of a ship.

Disney is a great cruiseline for kids--even the really small ones. They dote on children, and will bend over backwards to accommodate your baby.

DS is 7 now, and has just completed his 10th cruise. And DD, who is 5 is also a veteran cruiser with 8 under her belt.

Ohhh--just saw that you're a long-time Disney cruiser. That's an added bonus since you already know the ins and outs of the ships. And, you can see how kids are treated very well on those ships.
