Monte Carlo - travel to Nice or Cannes?

Recommended Posts

Going to Monte Carlo on the Ruby Princess in May. Is it worth it to take a tour to Nice or Cannes or should I just spend the day in Monte Carlo?

Some have told me to just stick with Monte Carlo because Nice and Cannes aren't a qhole lot different than MC, others have said defintiely go to Nice or Cannes.

I'd love to get some opinions on this from those that have gone for 1 day on a ship. Thanks!

I think what you need to do is to read up on each port to see what you would prefer to see.

We have been to Monte Carlo several times. There is a lot to see there so you can fill up your day there. There is the Palace, The Casino, Some very unique gardens to visit, Oceanographic Museum and the town itself to walk around.

Many who have already gone there will recommend other areas to see. Eze is one of them and of course you could visit the ones you have identified.

Everyone has their favorite(s).

For us, we are glad that we first explored all that is available in Monte Carlo. On other trips back we have visited other nearby towns.

Sure you can spend the day in Monte Carlo/Monaco just walking around seeing the sights on both sides( also there is a sightseeing train that will take you around as well) and have a nice luncheon,do some shopping etc. and make it an easy day.MC is not like Nice or Cannes, and whoever said that is wrong.Anyway, Nice is a large city that has a neat old town that you could explore and Cannes is large too,but more of a beach town feeling(nice beach area s well).MC/M are smaller and more upscale that can be strolled.I would Google all three and see what would interest you IMHO.

I agree - find a tour guide and go over to Nice and visit the market in the morning. Then head to Eze or St. Paul. Those two are mountain top villages that look like when they were built in the middle ages.

Then you can visit Monaco before heading back to the ship.
