Has anyone stayed in a Penthouse AB category?

We are going on the 2 night sailing on the Jewel from Dover to Amsterdam. We have been so very lucky as we have been upgraded to a Penthouse stateroom category AB. Has anyone had any experience of these cabins?

Thanks for any thoughts and opinions.

AB's are our favorite suites at sea. The second bedroom is the perfect size for our kids.

It's a great suite, complete with concierge and butler service. Plus a shower you won't want to leave. ABs on the Jewel also have their own espresso/cappucino machines. I think we drank about a half-dozen a day.

Great suite! We had a fabulous trip on the jewel in this perfect suite. The best suite ever for kids...best privacy ever.

Check out my pictures on the link below for specifics. Look for Jewel.

We were also upgraded on our mini cruise to Bruges to a Courtyard Villa.

Fantastic......you will enjoy the extra space......how many of you sharing ?

We had the Villa for the 2 of us and use of all the Courtyard facilities....nice half bottle of champagne in your cabin and first onboard the ship escorted by the butler.

On a short cruise there will not be much opportunity to use the Butler but he is always there if you need him.

Remember you can eat breakfast and lunch in Cagneys which in my opinion is the best perk of all.

Trouble is once you have tasted the Suite life its hard to compromise on your next cruise.

ENJOY !!

There are two of us. Two 28 year old girls enjoying a weekend away!

Didn't know about Cagneys. Any ideas about the menus for breakfast and lunch? How much do they usually charge for these restaurants and breakfast and lunchtimes?

Would we get free champgane being in a Penthouse AB?

Thanks

Cagney's is a free perk if you are in PH or above. (and only available to PH and above/VIP's) No extra charge. The menu for breakfast remains the same throughout ... the lunch menu changes. It's a fabulous perk that we used nearly every breakfast and lunch during our 12-day cruise on the Jewel.

Yes, you will have a bottle of chilled champagne in your room upon arrival.

Enjoy!

Cagneys has its own breakfast menu...anything you could want really....fillet steak, crab cakes, eggs benedict, pancakes with bananas plus all the usual English breakfast items.

To be honest when you've had breakfast you don't need to eat again till dinner.

Its only for suite guests...your room card will open the door...no charge!!

Lunch is the same menu as the main dining room but go up there for lunch after embarkation and avoid the masses below and get 5* service.

You should get some bubbly or wine in your suite..its a suite perk but ABs can't use the Courtyard...still who cares !!

Check out the NCL website for the low down on Suite perks...only negative maybe the Bed in the suite it may be a Queen so if you don't want to share you may have to take turn with the 2nd bedroom...wait till you see the bathroom....take your camera !!

This is a fabulous penthouse--our favorite--and with just two of you, one can use the second bedroom as a dressing room!! We love it. You can have anything from any menu--any meal--delivered to your suite--if this appeals to you, have the butler bring all the menus when you board--this includes Cagney's breakfast. There is a scale under the bathroom sink in the cabinet!! We didn't find it until our 3rd cruise in this penthouse!! There has always been complimentary champagne--not sure if this is always true, or because we have sailed with them so often...

You are in for a BIG treat!! Have a wonderful time!!

I am booked on a Penthouse Suite on the Jade (cat AB). Are the perks the same? Will we also get free breakfast/lunch at Cagneys (or is there even such a restaurant on this ship?)

I am travelling with my DH, DS10, DD11 and my Sister39 for 13 nights. My original plan was to book two connecting balcony staterooms, but the price of the AB suite was almost the same and I thought it would be fun to have conceirge and butler service. I became so excited when I saw pictures of the suite that I decided to try to fit us all into one cabin. Do you think that it is reasonable if my Sister and my DD sleep in the sofabed and my DS sleeps in the pullman bed? Is the sofabed big enough? (my DD and my sister are both an average size).

Yes, they are. Yes, you will. And yes, there is. ;)

Everybody in that second bedroom will be tight. I hope they all get along.

Here's an AB second bedroom on the Jewel that someone posted:

is that the same set up as the Dawn's PH?

Haven't been on either ship so can't say for sure but in looking at the pictures, they are very similar. Here's one of the Dawn's AB second bedroom with the bed folded out and you can see the other bed on the side of the wall through the mirror but it's not down.

Do you have any other pics of the little room on the dawn?

It looks like the room is just big enough to fit the sofabed. Yes it will be very tight, but the rest of the cabin looks huge. My kids can watch TV in their little room, but my sister only needs to go in there for sleeping. As long as the sofabed is big enough for my DD and my sister I am sure it will be fine. It is hard to tell how big the bed is from looking at the picture. It looks like it is bigger than a double bed, but is it as big as a queen?

I might feel a little guilty that my DH and I have our own bedroom, but my kids will love sharing a room with their Aunt. My sister is very easygoing so she will not mind (plus my DH and I are paying her way).

I suspect that if you let her use your tub in your master bath it will make her even happier. ;)

Also, have you looked at this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=821421

Although they are talking about an AB on the Dawn, the room layout and perks are the same.

3 can sleep in teh 2nd bedroom. It's small, but for sleeping it will work. It's not like they're going to be spending all day together in there.

The AB is wonderful, you will feel so spoiled!

Thanks - As long as 3 can sleep in it....WE ARE THERE!!!!!:)
