budaman Posted August 27, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Hi Sassy....I have it, but it is also available on the Star Clipper website. Look under Ports of Call & it will have a pdf file for Tahiti that shows what is available on each island. let me know if you can't access it. budaman Posted August 29, 2008 Author #10 Share Posted August 29, 2008 One thing about the hotels if you book throught SC.....Your Docs will include vouchers for the transfers, hotel & the included breakfast. Be sure to keep your copies, don't let the hotel keep both. It didn't happen at the Radisson, but at the Sofitel, they tried to charge us for taxes & breakfast. It states clearly on the vouchers this is included. Showed them our copies & everything was removed. Mike

GHRAustin Posted September 5, 2008 #13 Share Posted September 5, 2008 Mike, great pics, thanks for sharing... I am up the road in Austin, going on the Nov 9 Star Flyer trip. Have been on Royal and Star Clipper, so know the ship features, etc. I was hoping you could give a little advice...Were there any excursions that you particularly enjoyed (or not) on your trip? And did you get a lot of beach and/or snorkle time with the sports team off the ship or close by? Share any other tips you have, we will be in Moorea for 5 days pre-sail at the Intercontinental. And last of all, what camera did you use underwater,, loved those shots! Thanks, Gail
budaman Posted September 5, 2008 Author #14 Share Posted September 5, 2008 Hi Gail! The only excursion we booked, other than the diving, was the Kayak trip in Raiatea. We really enjoyed it....2 miles up the river, then a walk through a botanical preserve & 2miles back. Some of the other excursions that people we met really liked were the jungle hike/Raiatea, Robinson Crusoe Tour & the 4x4 adventure/Bora Bora, the ATV tour , sailing /snorkeling tour/ Moorea & The motu picnic & snorkle/Huahine. The ship does provide snorkle gear to you for the whole trip & there were many opportunities to snorkel. The day at the motu in Tahaa is an all day snorkle if you want. The U/W pics & most of the land pics were from a Canon SD870, using the Canon case U/W, all taken by my wife I might add and a few I took with a Nikon 5600. I spent most of the time video taping. I am in the process of editing the footage(one reason I haven't gotten the review finished....maybe this weekend) and hope to have some footage on the site soon. You'll love the cruise, but it will go by much too quick! Mike
poolside26 Posted September 26, 2008 #15 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Hi, I just saw your post and looked at your pictures. I also saw that you were on the Tahitian Princess. I was there this past January on the Tahitian Princess and did not want to leave. I am going next year on the Star Flyer. Will it be as wonderful as the big ship? How do the two compare? Thanks for any info.. Brenda

Mike http://gallery.mac.com/csealove#100129 The pics are great. I see you have also been on the Tahitian Princess, as I was this past January. I am going on the Star Flyer next June. How do the 2 compare? I've never been on a sailboat before and can't wait to get back to paradise. I accidentally sent this out twice..
budaman Posted September 27, 2008 Author #17 Share Posted September 27, 2008 Thanks for the commments Brenda! I think the experience will depend on what you expect on a cruise. If you are looking for a casino, large production shows, multiple food venues, lots of people and a more structured environment, you'll be disapponted. However, if you are adventurous, love quiet evenings under the stars, like to do things on your own and mingle with people from all over the world, you'll have a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the TP, but the Star Flyer was a much more rewarding experience for us. That first evening when you leave Papeete and clear the Harbor as the sails begin unfurling to the sounds of 'Conquest of Paradise' will set the stage for what you will experience the rest of the week...it is a very emotional moment. The entire cruise is like a weeklong sunset sail as you will leave most of the islands at sunset and approach the islands in the early morning light....a truly beautiful good morning call. They take very good care of you on the Star Flyer & you will never go hungry either. They set up Pastries, coffee, tea, juice & fruit at 6:30 every morning so you can grab somethng & watch the sun come up & then a full breakfast is available at 7:30. Lunch will be put out around 11 - 2 and then there will be afternoon snacks at 4ish. Dinner is served from 7:30 to 10:30 & you can go at any time & basically sit where & with whom you want. There were several evenings we sat with the Captain, First Officer or one of the other Officers aboard. We also had a full Motu Beach day off of Tahaa that is provided complimentary. They have a great bar-b-que & Polynesian show while on the Motu. We spent the day snorkeling and kayaking. If you have any specific questions about the two ships, I'll try & be of help.
