Shopping for a formal gown - FilenesBasement - how to get there

Hi,

How can I get from the cruise port to Filenes Basement? I need to shop for a formal gown while I'm on my cruise and since I know they are famous for bridal gowns, thought I might have luck looking there.

 

Do I need to take a cab?

 

Any other recommendations for shopping for a formal gown in Boston while in port for one day?

Sad news - the original Filene's basement is currently closed. However, there is one in Back Bay, but I'm not familiar with it. I always found the original basement to be very hit or miss - and mostly miss. I went to one of the bridal events with my daughter and was seriously disappointed - lots of hype, huge crowd, and dirty and damaged dresses.

 

Are you coming from NY? I would shop in NY over Boston any day!

Try the Back Bay Filenes Basement, to an old " regular" it will NEVER be as good as the orginal but that doesn't mean it's no good. Sounds like a perfect way to spend some tie in Boston.
