derf5585 Posted October 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Why is the "Carnival Miracle" called the "Carnival Miracle". But the "Carnival Paradise" is called just the "Paradise"

BottledRed Posted October 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2004 I think at some point Carnival started registering all their ships with the name Carnival in front of them, but the older ships were not registered that way
GroupCruiser Posted October 27, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2004 The Carnival Destiny was the first to be named that way, and every ship since has had 'Carnival' as part of it's name.
Beffy1167 Posted October 27, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Thanks for this answer! I've wondered the same thing.
M.S JAZO Posted October 27, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 27, 2004 That is a good question. You know I was thinking that at work today.
MrPete Posted October 27, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 27, 2004 The Carnival Destiny was the first to be named that way, and every ship since has had 'Carnival' as part of it's name.I don't think that's true. I think the seventh and eighth Fantasy class ships came out after the Destiny, and did not have Carnival in it's moniker. The Paradise and the Elation came out in 1998, and the Destiny in 1996? kristikae Posted October 28, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 28, 2004 I think it has something to do with the class. The Fantasy class ships actually have initials in front of their name (M.S.?).
Ruffster Posted October 29, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2004 I could be way off base here, but it could probably have something to do with promoting the company brand. By actually putting "Carnival" in the name they are differentiating their ships from the rest in the industry. Royal Carribean has done the same thing by adding "Of the Seas" to their ships names. Part of good marketing is building brand loyalty by making it easy for the consumer to identify and recognize your brand.
excrew2 Posted October 29, 2004 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2004 They did this to distinguish the brands of Carnival Corporation. Seabourn has the Seabourn Pride Legend etc and that is why they began to put Carnival in front of the actual name. Destiny started it as that was the largest of the world at the time built and it was Carnivals Destiny at the time of building
albecker60 Posted October 30, 2004 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2004 The Triumph is usually listed without the Carnival and it is not one of the older ships. MS stands for "Motor Ship"
