Sunshine91 Posted October 13, 2008 #29 Share Posted October 13, 2008 My John can get QUITE loud - he doesn't have a clue. Sometimes the "poke & roll" method works, but I only give it 2 tries. Then I decamp to another bedroom. :( And of course, the dog & a couple of cats follow. I've tried various ear-plugs, but realized that at home, they scare me. I WANT to be able to hear my alarm in the morning. Or, if it should happen, the smoke detector. However, I've taken them w/me on holiday when alarm clocks are irrelevant. And if I should need to be awakened in an emergency, well, I'm stuck in the room w/the husband so he'll always wake-up first. Those Mack's white silicone plugs are great. What's nice is that you can cut the blob down to size if you have smallish ear canals. At the drugstore, look in the eye-care aisle where they also sell products for things like ear wax cleaning. I've also considered one of those white-noise machines - you know, sounds of the waves or rain forest. Has anyone ever tried one & what was the experience like?
