 Hi. We need some help with what to do between leaving the ship (NCL) around 10 am and a flight that leaves Miami at 6 pm. Don't want to sit at the airport all day. Any ideas? Shopping, touring, etc.? Was thinking about spending the day in the market place near the docks (can't remember the name) How do we handle the luggage? Any ideas would be appreciated!

One option is a cruise ship sponsored tour. They usually offer them onboard only (you can't pre-order). Your luggage stays with the bus and you are dropped off at the airport after.

Others have rented cars for a beach day. Your luggage stays in the car so you aren't schlepping it around.

We've taken day rooms at hotels also. Generally ½ price of the standard rate but you cannot reserve a room before the day you need it. We called from the ship directly to the hotel and had no problem.

Renting a car for the day would probably be a good idea. There are plenty of places to shop in Miami, however you do need transportation to get to them and since you will have luggage with you, why not rent a car, store your luggage in the trunk and then either go shopping, or visit a couple of tourist areas (Viscaya Palace, Key Biscayne, South Beach, Jungle Island, just to name a few).
