Canadians: Pay off cruise now or wait?

Recommended Posts

We just surrendered and paid the balance on Sunday although it is not due until end of January. We figured we could just still afford to go at today's rate but would miss out totally if the Aussie dollar fell any more. We had already paid too many "non refundable" flights, hotels etc to just lose them altogether.

I paid all balances in US for our Aussie cruise last night. I don't actually know what % we will be charged until I see it on my cc, but it shouldn't be as bad as I had been expecting since the dollar has gone up this week a decent amount.

If the Bank of Canada is going to cut interest rates, our Dollar will go down. If the Fed cuts our dollar goes up.

You can go to the Bank of Canada site and it will tell you when there next interest rate meeting will be, it's always a Tuesday, I believe.

We take our leftover spending money and exchange it every week, that way we neither win or lose because we're "cost averaging". We also book in Canadian dollars, only Carnival won't allow bookings in any other currency but the greenback.

Hope this helps.;)
