FOXTROT Posted November 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2008 Our ship will be docking at Fort-de-France. A post from 4 years ago recommended taking the ferry over to Point de Bout to rent a car. Is this still the case or is it just as easy to rent at Fort -de-France? We will be able to rent the car for 8 hours, is this long enough to drive around the island? JJPacer Posted April 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2010 We did this and highly recommend taking the ferry over to Point de Bout to rent a car. It will save you a lot of driving time. You will not see the whole island in 8 hrs. Martinique is a good sized island. Mountanous, steep, and winding roads, calls for slower speed and more caution. Pick 2 or 3 places to visit and enjoy. Allow plenty of time to return to the ship. Try visitng Les Salines Beach, La Marin Beach, or La Diamont Beach. ;)
