Quarters for Self Serve Laundry?

Batch007

Recommended Posts

Being Canadian it is hard to get US quarters....do we need them for the self serve laundry or is there somewhere we can buy them on the ship (pursers desk? change machine? etc) or should I pick up some in LA?

if you know, pls don't hold back! Travelling with kids means probability of a laundry break mid cruise!

Thanks:p

I think it's 6 to wash and 6 to dry and they have powder detergent to purchase for 4 quarters, but they only have liquid fabric softener so bring some dryer sheets from home.

The dryers are pretty big and you can probably get 2 loads in each of the dryers.

Or wait until late in the cruise and they will have a laundry promotion that $15 per bag (though they aren't very big bags)

thanks for the quick answers - and YES Bill Blasters - I will be sure to get the quarters first - LOL! Obviously if I am thinking of the laundry I will be doing in 3+ weeks now I am a VERY organized and anal person:eek:

If you have time in LA before sailing - we always stop by a store and get a small bottle of laundry soap when we pick up our water, soda, etc., we take on board. It is cheaper than purchasing the packets on board. At the end of the trip I leave the rest of the laundry soap bottle in the laundry room for whoever might need to use it. I pack dryer sheets. I always pack a couple of rolls of quarters, as it seems they come in handy for vending machines while we travel, and then the laundry room. Since you are from Canada, might be easier to get them on board. I travel with 2 kids, did laundry a couple of times each trip. They are constantly staining clothes! Have a great trip.

I happen to have a couple of small boxes of laudry det samples that do two loads each, so I will pack those and dryer sheets. If I can get quarters at our hotel or where we pick up our wine/water in LA then I will, but otherwise I am at the mercy of the purser or the casino!!!

thanks again everyone!

21 days & I will be landing in LA right NOW! Woo Hoo!:p

Just off the Pride, $2.00 for washer/dryer. The washers weren't that big, so I'm sure they're different on each ship. The dryers on the deck 7, weren't very hot, so it took 2 cycles for me to dry. If someone plans on doing laundry, they should try to bring lighter weight fabrics vs heavier 100% cottons.

The $15 bags, weren't a bad size and were offered when in Mazatlan and Cabo

WARNING about the $15 deal. Our friends had some very nice clothing shrunk by 2 sizes on the Splendor. Everything is washed together in VERY HOT water so be careful what you send to be washed. It also does not include pressing so be prepared for wrinkles...

The laundry on the Glory held all the undies, t-shirts and shorts that could go in without getting damaged, bleeding, fading in one load. The dryers were hot and quick to dry also. Late night or port days is the best time to do laundry. We got up at 5 on a port day and were done before we docked.
