peppymom98 Posted December 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2008 Curious to know what a beer will cost on board? We'll bring a bottle of wine but DH likes to drink beer. Rosebud5t Posted December 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 18, 2008 Depending on what kind of beer he drinks, it will mostly likely be between $4 and $6 after the gratuity is added. Heineken's were $5.75, not sure about domestic (US). ~Tammy :) .

Plus 15% gratuity added to your S&S card. Bar bill can get up there if you like to drink. :)

IMO it is not worth the effort it takes to come up with a way to smuggle it on board.
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted December 18, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2008 bucket of budlight (4) $20.00 single $5.75 Side note... we lived in Tallahassee from 1969 until early 2006 -- one of the big reasons for our move was to be closer to a CRUISE PORT!!! :D Back to the topic at hand... we take a couple bottles of wine (carry on luggage) which is allowed. Though in the past we might have taken a case or two of beer in our checked luggage (on longer sailings). We don't bother with that any longer - for the most part. The hassle factor is one reason - though there are others! Tom
tedjazz Posted December 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2008 So, what is the price?? Yours where you say it is 5.75 for a Bud Light single, or tedjazz, who says it is $5.00 for a Bud Light single?? I certainly know tedjazz from a different thread wanting to make certain people knew "the truth". So...who is correct?? Or is it neither? I don't know how I deserved the Flame from you Pitboss, all I can tell you is that my last cruise, less than a week ago, on the Carnival Elation, I paid $5 for a Bud, $7.50 for TDOD, plus the customary 15% gratuity. If you would like I'll send you the S&S reciepts if my word is not good enough. Maybe the prices are different elsewhere. I did notice that there was about a 15% price increase for alcohol at Carnival from the RCCI cruise we had one year ago, but we can save that for another thread. tedjazz Posted December 18, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 18, 2008 I agree with you Ted. i thought zqvol's comment was a little out of line.you said a Bud or Bud Lite is $5, the menu above said $4.75 you said a DOD is $7.50, the menu above said $7.75 for a frozen exotic cocktail in a souvenir cup so you were off a quarter. To me that is not a big deal. I guess to some it is a big deal Yeah, just like I said maybe other ships, other lines charge different prices, I don't have that knowledge first hand, so I won't comment on it. I just know what I paid, I just looked at my receipts from my cruise again and what I posted is what I was charged for the specific drinks I mentioned. I certainly don't have a comprehensive list of drinks and prices and don't really know why I would, but some folks do and could have saved others alot of time by just posting their info and then there would be no need to flame away. I did notice that there was about a 15% price increase for alcohol at Carnival from the RCCI cruise we had one year ago, but we can save that for another thread. I found the exact opposite on RCL... when we were on RCL, drink prices were higher at that time (2006), than the current Carnival prices... not sure about now, but I know Carnival's prices haven't gone down... OP... the prices aren't bad... about what you would pay at most nice restaurants and bars in most metro cities, resorts, etc. but less than you would pay in really upscale bars (not to mention nearly anywhere in South Beach :p LOL)
GoinCruisin Posted December 19, 2008 #14 Share Posted December 19, 2008 One other point that was made when I posted my RCL review, which i have no idea if it is true or not, is that unlike Carnival, RCL's prices for drinks vary from ship to ship and are NOT fleetwide like they are on Carnival... some DOD's on RCL might be $6... and some I've heard are $10... one of the DOD's for the day we were supposed to be in Cococay was I believe $15... prices on the ship we were on seemed much higher than Carnival's... since, Carnival has raised prices, but still not as high as we paid on that ship... TMWTim Posted December 19, 2008 #15 Share Posted December 19, 2008 I expect this thread was meant to turn into what it has. Prices of booze has been listed countless times. As for the comment about sitting at a bar, running back to the room to fill up a drink and then coming back to the bar. That is just a lame comment. I don't think anyone would do that. If they did however, it is none of our business. Like most others, I take a few beers and a RR in my suitcase because of two reasons... 1. I want to have a beer or a 7&7 when I want it. I don't want to order room service and sit and wait until it arrives. When it is time to take it out on the balcony then it is time and there is no time to be wasted. Some may know what I mean, others won't;) 2. If nobody minded me walking down the stairs passed the casino in my boxers to grab me a beer to drink in my room....I WOULD. berls088 Posted December 19, 2008 #17 Share Posted December 19, 2008 ok so heres my advice: by a beer/drink on board, and then add your own liquor to it! an ice cold miller lite with a shot or to of citrus vodka? deellllicious! that should keep everybody happy..best of both worlds! how come booze boards get so hostile? i think everybody just needs some more BOOZE in their lives! On my last cruise on the Imagination, our cabin was right around the corner from the atrium bar. I often walked out there in my pajamas for coffee or a night cap. Because I is klassay like dat.
