Kaylasmom Posted April 21, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Our cruise on the Voyager 10/30 sailing E1 (balcony) was 1580 total for two people. Seemed to be the cheapest I could find. Wonder if anything cheaper is out there. Is anyone else sailing w/ me? **Don't mean to offend anyone by this post. Sorry if it's a tacky or taboo ?" First cruise - 2/23/04 - Best time of my life! DFritz Posted April 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2004 I don't think it's tacky or taboo. I find it to be an interesting question and I would like to add a question of my own to this- why do folks feel the need to spend thousands for a balcony cabin? Do they use it 24/7 to get their moneys worth? Back to the original question- We always book an inside stateroom as we spend only sleeping and showering time there. We are always out doing something somewhere on the ship. There are almost always four of us to a cabin. We usually spend less than $500 for persons 1 and 2 and $199 for persons 3 and 4. We've sailed on RCI's ships: Enchantment, Navigator, already booked for Granduer and Voyager . All 7 days except Voyager and our rates were $300 per person for a 5-day , taxes and fees included. We also booked a Carnival sailing for the same rates. Our total is usually $1400 or less for the four of us total. I figure I'm seeing the same shows, eating the same food, walking the same ship and visiting the same ports so why pay more. brn2crz Posted April 21, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2004 When I first saw this on the Carnival board,I thought uhoh..here come the tacky police.Normally I do think its not wise to discuss price, but hey..this is an info board, and I actually learned some things reading that thread. I think that was a great price whoever got a balcony on the Voyager for 15??..was that total total... I paid 1787 for a balcony on the Rhapsody in Sept o3..that was cruise, tax port cost and insurance... Ok,please list your sailing dates, cabin cat and include all pre-sailing costs. kbt2 Posted April 21, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Sounds pretty good to me...when we sailed Voyager 3 years ago she was new then)we paid like 1100.00 per person for an atrium cabin. That's back when they were pretty high. So ya did good! Kaylasmom Posted April 21, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Our 1580 rate was through cruise.com (just booked today!) TA was wonderful, you can email me for a name or extension if you'd like. We got an aft balcony cabin 9392 ( I am really excited) DFritz - I wondered the same thing, that's why I booked one. We sailed in Feb on the Monarch in an inside cabin and are sailing 8/30 on the SOS in an inside. Hubby and I are finally Sailing alone and thought it might be worth the extra $300 to have a balcony. If I found a 7 night Voyager Class ship for $300, you bet I would take an inside cabin. First cruise - 2/23/04 - Best time of my life! brn2crz Posted April 21, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2004 See,I knew we were getting ripped off in Texas!!! the cheapest balcony I have found for Rhapsody in Sept is 999pp Cathy NCL-Starward 1982 NCL-Seaward 1986 NCL-Norway 1992 Carnival-Celebration 1996 Carnival-Jubilee 2001 RCI-Rhapsody 1999 RCI-Rhapsody- 2003 Grand Princess or Rhapsody ? 2004
aqusis Posted April 21, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2004 CruiseQuick.com...the rate was originally $1470 for both of us but after we applied our C&A coupon ($125-16% commission that Cquisequick discounts)gave us a $105.00 credit. Left us at $1364 total or $682.00pp. If you aren't familiar with them, they are totally internet based, no phone service. We've used them several times and haven't found anybody to come close to their prices and their service has been wonderful. At least request a quote from them, you are going about a month after us and the Voyager is a bit older ship, you might get an even lower rate. The rates they quote include all taxes and port, no additional charges. Mariner of the Seas

London, Canada Posted April 21, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 21, 2004 We are on AOS -- Feb 06/05 -- 7 nights for $1698.00/person. We are in a D1 cabin, with balcony. I understand that when Canadians book cruises they factor in the exchange...not sure if this is true? Does anyone know? The airfare is what is really bad $809/person out of Detroit. We live 2 hours northeast of Detroit, it is much cheaper flying out of Detroit than Toronto, Canada and the same distance.

melissa76 Posted April 21, 2004 #23 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Well, the person who said they wouldn't pay for a balcony is going to think I'm an idiot. I paid $ 5500 for two people in an Owner's Suite (Navigator in June). It's my wedding/honeymoon so I TOTALLY think it's worth it. We can eat in or cabin. We can take bubble baths in the jacuzzi tub. Blah, blah, blah!! I think for this type of an occasion it's worth every penny! Of course, under other circumstances, I might love the cheapest cabin on the ship! You still have loads of fun!!!!
