Saw this on another board(hopefully it's not too tacky) How much did you pay for your cruise?

Recommended Posts

Ok, today our deal just got even sweeter!! We are paying $902 per person for the September 19, 2004 Mariner of the Seas, Eastern Caribbean, category D2. Price now includes our airfare from Salt Lake City to Orlando, Florida!! So we are at $769 per person for the cruise (port charges and taxes included), and $133 for the airfare. Total cruise and airfare for two: $1804! The airfare was a surprise, never expected to get it under $200 per person!

The worst deal we ever got was our first cruise on the Carnival Triumph 09-08-01. I can't find our exact number's but it was about $1500 per person for an 8A balcony with three in a cabin (included airfare though). We didn't know about Cruise Critic at the time, I guess some of us just have to learn the hard way <<<sigh>>>

The best deal we had was this past November, the week after Thanksgiving on the Radiance, 7 night, $750 pp drive out WITH airfare from Houston for an E1 balcony (this included $200 balcony discount for Diamond and $125 C&A coupon) Plus we had a $100 ship board credit.

For this coming Thankgiving week, we got two adjoing E1 cabins on the Navigator for $775 pp
(no airfare) plus $100 ship board credit per room. The prices are out of site now.

Hi yall! I spend days and days trying to find the absolute best prices. I've gone with bestpricecruises.com last January for a Carnival cruise and just went with cruisequick.com for my past RCI cruise. I am now on the hunt for the cheapest RCI Panama Canal balcony room around Jan or Feb 2005. Prefer Brillance of the Seas. Any deals, let me know! Thanks, April

I think the price also depends on the time of the year. May ,June. July seem to have the higest prices. If you never had balcony than you can't justifie the price . But Being able to have room service serve you breakfeast on you private balcony, to have a drink with your sweetheart watching the sun set on you private balcony is worth the extra money.

Realtor1,
How did you pre-pay tips? Also do I have to book through RCCL to get the C&A balcony discount? How far out have our booked your cruises? We are interliners and sometimes we can get fantastic rates, but other times they aren't that great. We booked the Radiance 6 nighter for $489 for a E-2 balcony (only $80 more than an inside) Last year we used Cruisequick for the NAV because there aren't many great summer interliner specials. Thanks for your info.

Valor(Carnival) 2/6/2005 - $869 Balcony guarantee.
Radiance 2/13/2005 - $644 per person, using RCI Visa coupons to upgrade to Oceanview.

I'll let the Balcony on Valor be a surprise to my wife, one more positive thing on the trip. (I want to try other cruise lines, my wife doesn't and will let me know it if it isn't as fun as RCI )

Just got back from the Mariner of the Seas, 4/11-4/18/04. From reading your posts, I feel like we got a bad deal. I went through RCI and paid $829/person for two interior staterooms (#9223 and 9225--way up front). I had booked probably less than 2 weeks ahead of time. The person I talked to on the phone told me it was "a real deal." (included all taxes, fees)

Better check into Cruisequick.com next time, huh? Sure would be nice to be able to afford a balcony.

Then again, we did pick Easter week. Probably made a difference in price.

These "may" seem high... BUT it's for prime time and cabins (quads) aren't avail. anymore.. when we booked it was the SAME pricing for sailing prior and after and this has Xmas AND New Years (Cruisequick pricing and has $200 shipboard attached) 10 nights
JS quad - covetted #1100 $4612 total
Q quad - $3436
now to decide which cabin to keep...

1/24/04 Navigator category D-1 aft balcony, 7 days, cruisequick, $2118 for two plus air.

2/26/04 Carnival Spirit, aft balcony (comparable to category E-1 on RCCL), 8 days, bestpricecruises, $1300 for two plus air.

10/17/04 Mariner category E-1 aft balcony, 7 days, cruisequick, $1502 minus Crown and Anchor coupon, now $1397 for two plus air.

Now looking at 2/13/05 Adventure category D-1 aft balcony, 7 days, cruisequick, quote is $2274 plus air for two. I am hoping that the price will drop in the next 10 months and/or I'll get a coupon.

The time of year makes a HUGE difference. I paid $2726 for two on a June Explorer cruise in the same cabin as my upcoming Mariner cruise for $1397 (after coupon).

Not to rain on the parade, but I have really found that 'best cruise price' can really lead to one-upmanship. Whenever I have discussed it on board, someone is bound to have gotten the exact same cruise and category for 'hundreds less'. Once someone actually told me they had a 'secret' travel agent who only took clients by interview on which to bestow her fabulous deals. I just mention it in passing so some folks don't feel bad or that they were 'ripped off'.

Woodz- both Carnival and RCI let us pre-pay the tips. Just give them a call and they take care of it. Money is an issue with us so we like taking care of as many expenses as possible before we cruise so we pre-pay tips, excursions and even put extra payment on our credit card ahead of time to pay for shipboard expenses or we buy cruise dollars.

Sue C.- You actually got pretty good rates for Spring Break week which is probably the most expensive week of the year. If you have/had a great cruise then it's worth all the money in the world. I think this thread is mainly to assist others in finding future great rates by trying some of the same areas, weeks, categories as others.

AOS 11/28 E1 Balcony is under $700.00 PP including all but air because we are using the last of our Delta FF miles. This cost includes TA discount and C&A coupon and group discount. I keep looking though. Last year booked Constellation for the same week. Found a "Buy an ocean view, get a balcony for $1.00 more" deal from another TA. Gave my TA the info and they honored it. Paid about $550 for Balcony room and used our AA FF miles. I thought that was really a good deal!

I guess my problem is that I work at an elementary school so the only times I can cruise (at least until I retire) are spring break, winter holiday, and summer..which I'm assuming are the most expensive times of the year. So I guess 1300pp for a corner aft including all taxes, fees, and insurance isn't too bad. Just glad we don't have to pay for airfare on top of it.

Booked a cat H deck 7 on Explorer for 9/19/04 and paid $1600 including all taxes. Seeing as how it's now $869 pp before taxes - that rocks. Booked throught Travelocity using Mastercard and took advantage of their $150 rebate promotion, so total cost will be around $1450.

Earlier this year, paid $328pp for 4 day Western on the Fascination. That was a steal.
