Looking for great steaks in PR

Hello,

We will be staying several days pre and post cruise. We have several local places picked out to dine, but DH would like to have good steak (we were spoiled when living in Texas) one night. We are staying in Condado area, but are not opposed to taking a taxi to another area.

Thank you for all the helpful info on these boards!

Look at Morton's of Chicago http://www.mortons.com/location_detail.php?pageid=location_detail&idlocation=58 they allow advance online reservations.porterhouse.jpg

or look at Ruth's Chris in the Intercontinental Hotel in Condado http://www.ruthschris.com/Steak-House/3838/San-Juan they also allow online reservations.img_menu_filet.jpg

The Intercontinental Hotel is located in Isla Verde, not in Condado. :)

I stand corrected:

Look at Morton's of Chicago in the Caribe Hilton located between historic Old San Juan and the Condado area on Los Rosales Street http://www.mortons.com/location_deta...&idlocation=58 they allow advance online reservations.

mikepmcm - we are on EOS next month and in SJ for the evening - DH is a beef farmer here in the UK and we love steak - could you tell me how far Morton's is from where we are docking which I think is Pan Am Pier - also is the restaurant suitable for children - I couldn't get a copy of the menu from the website:confused:

MrsPotter,

Note that the EOS does not dock at the PanAm Pier it docks at Pier 4 in Old San Juan from 3-11pm. So you are closer to all of the activities, there are may restaurants which are walkable from the ship which "coquishideaway" would have more knowledge of.

"San Juan Magazine: Best of San Juan

Mortons voted El Nuevo Día: Best Steakhouse"

You are actually just a short cab ride to the Caribe Hilton. Mortons is a chain that started in LosAngeles CA. I'm sure that they can accomodate children and since you are arriving by ship I would use the web reservation and book ahead.

Here's a listed special for Morton's Puerto Rico http://www.mortons.com/steak-offer/menu2.jpg

available through March 31, 2009

mikepmcm - thanks for the info - one of the people on my rollcall said pier 4 but when I was on the phone to TA I asked and they told me Pan Am - which i'm hoping it isn't.

I will take the number for Morton's and try and book ahead when we get there - don't want to book in advance as this is 1st cruise so not sure what will be going on on the ship etc

Thanks again

Just a thought, it might be easier to reserve ahead (no charge required) so that you don't get shut out, you can always cancel once in port if needed or even online from the ship.

Enjoy your cruise, we're leaving tomorrow on the Serenade from Puerto Rico

We went to Ches but they took over 5 minutes to try to seat us and they had plenty of tables....so seeing the poor service we walked down to Buenos Ayres near the Marriott Stellaris and it was GREAT! Casual dining, but great food. Steaks were great and the drinks were good too! I'd go back to Buenos Ayres!
