12:30 flight out of FLL (ship's in Miami) Would you try it?

We are on a 12:50 p.m. flight out of Miami on 12/26/04. We were told by Carnival not to book a flight before 1:00 p.m. but the customer service rep. told me that she thought this flight would be ok. We are sailing on the Carnival Valor on 12/19/04.

Can only speak to mine experience, I say try for a later flight.

For early debarkation you must 1) all be US citizens 2)No one is over their customs allowance

I was on Victory last april/may, had a 1:15PM flight out of FLL. I went to the pursers desk and got baggage tags in the first color group called off the ship. Between the time it took the ship to clear immigration, the time for the carry-your-own group to finish, the long snaking line off the ship, the wait for the Carnival Shuttle bus to fill up and the trip to the airport, I JUST made my flight.

I'm a 10 time cruiser and often fly out of FLL for a Miami cruise. I've ignored the "not before 2PM out of FLL" rule before, but next time I'm not going to cut it so close. The extra stress isn't worth the $50 less for the flight IMHO.

If EVERYTHING falls into place, you'll make it. If anything... delayed arrival, slow customs and immigration clearance, passengers slow to close their shipboard accounts, misplaced baggage, traffic problems...anything and I think you're sunk.

I would not try it if I had any other alternative. Good luck

Thanks to all......I am a chicken...I think I'm going to pass.......

If it was a price you like, take it. We've doen this a few time with flights between 12-1pm. Have never had a problem. Just have your transportation to the airport lined up.

My friends were on Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas two weeks ago, and they almost missed their 4 p.m. flight. It was out of FLL, but that only took them 40 minutes to get there. She said there were problems with debarking the passengers because the ship didn't clear customers in a timely manner, and they didn't start debarking until almost 1 p.m. That's not the norm, and odds are in your favor that it won't happen. But statistics mean nothing if it's your ship that gets held up. As long as you can catch a later flight with no add'l charges, I wouldn't worry. Otherwise, I'd book something later. I'd rather sit at the airport with a book than be running to catch a flight and miss it; especially after a nice, relaxing cruise.
