Atlantis

We are going to Nassau on the Glory in may, and I was just wondering how the booking a room at comfort suites works. Because of check-in times do you book for the night before you arrive or the night that you arrive? And what if you have 5 people would that mean you have to book 2 rooms or will they give you 5 wristbands? Thanks for any info!

I booked last July through AAA. I got 2 rooms (there were 6 of us and they will only give 4 armbands to get onto Atlantis property per room). I got the room for around 166.00 each. It worked out beautifully for us! Much cheaper than the Disney excursion that is offered. It would have cost us over $800 going through Disney Cruise Lines. Comfort Suites allowed us to check in early - as soon as you get there and get armbands, but we could not go to our room until 3:00 PM. Our ship was leaving at 5:00, so we never even saw our rooms. The very friendly staff at the check-in desk knew exactly what we were doing. She said, "If you don't make it back to pick up keys we will do an automatic check out." Go for it! It's a great deal, and we had no problems! We will do it this way again if we ever return.

We booked for the day we docked there. Room wasn't ready (check in is at 4, I think) but they checked us in, gave us our bracelets, and off we went across the street to Atlantis. They only give you 4 bracelets (the max occupancy in the room, so I guess you would have to get 2 rooms - may not be cost effective for you, then.

You do not get your braclets at the Comfort Suites, you get a slip that you have to exchange for arm bands at any towel booth at Atlantis. You can check in as soon as you arrive, we have done this 4 times now. It is so easy and much cheaper!

Can you get into the atlantis and walk around and go to the casino without wristbands?

you can go through the casino, but not the dig or outside very far.....BUT if there isnt someone checking at the doors to the pool area's then yes, you might get to.....it is luck of the draw.....BUT it is such a cool place worth seeing!!

We are cruising in July and have booked a room at Comfort Inn, for those who've already done this: how long did it take to get from the ship, check-in at Comfort and finally arrive at Atlantis? I'm wondering if we'll have to wait in a long line for check-in and squander our limited time. Thanks in advance.

I just looked on the Comfort Suites website and checked room rates for September. The room rate it is giving me is $289. Do I have to wait until it's closer to the actual date to get a better rate or is it just a more popular time of year?

Definitely keep checking the rates, from my experience with booking CS the rates have dropped closer to our cruise departure. I paid $80 plus taxes/surcharges in Dec-06 and Dec-07 so I find it hard to believe you would have to pay much more than $100 during September since that's hurricane season.

Were there any restrictions to the day use of Atlantis through Comfort Suites?

No. Of course, if you want to do the dolphin swim, that's different, that's not included. But through Comfort Suites, you get full use of all of the pools & slides (we didn't have time to use all of them there are a bunch - the "lazy" river was really, really fun! Portions of it has some rapids.) We also walked through the Casino (didn't stop b/c we had kids with) We were able to go through the "dig." Because of our cruise ship schedule, our time was too limited to see everything that we were allowed to see (Atlantis is HUGE!), but we felt like we got our money's worth by going the cheaper route through Comfort Suites. You are allowed to do the same thing that the cruise line excursion that includes the pools does. I would have hated, though, to pay what the cruise line was asking! It's also very easy to get a cab from the pier to the hotel and back.

Hi, I think it really depends on how much the room at the comfort suites is going for that night. The comfort suites is going for 300 a night for Feb 28. and Carnival's rate is $120 and it includes food and transporation. So you really have to look at the pros and cons...

I am going with Carnival.

Hope this helps.

I am going in April with my mom and we are planning to do the Comfort Suites. We are worried about the walking, though. She has bad knees and I'm wondering how far across the street the Atlantis is. Could I drop her at the Atlantis, check us in at Comfort, then walk back myself?

True. I got our rooms (we needed 2 for the six of us) for 166 a night from AAA. It was July, though so you would think the rates would be higher during that time??? Maybe they've raised rates.

Thank you for your reply. Please accept my apology for being so tardy, I was recovering from a bout with the flu then I got very busy and lost track of the thread.

We get in at 7 a.m., but we'll have teenage grandchildren with us so I doubt we'll get off the ship anywhere near that early.

If you are worried about the 3 minute walk across the street from the Comfort Suites, you might want to reconsider. The Grounds are Huge, and it' will take another 10 minutes or more to find the pool you want to relax by.

I have a bad hip.. and this place is torture to me.

I agree. Atlantis, itself, is a HUGE place and it's quite a walk to the pool areas.

We are going Oct 09 and when I checked website for the Comfort Suites it said at that time I had to reserve 2 night.??

People started coming across these 2-night minimum requirements last year but the 2-night min seems to come and go so keep checking back (I'd keep checking anyway just to see if the rate drops, Oct is hurricane season so you should get a better rate as it gets closer to your cruise).
